Tuesday
Naturia Bamboo Shoot, an oddly named, oddly
looking, yet pretty cute and adorable, is a very
interesting monster. I don't know anything about
Naturia monsters, nor how many exist, so I'm sorry
for that...however...
We have a Level 5 monster, Earth attribute, who
is a Plant, despite living in Aqua surroundings.
Anyway, if you Tribute Summon this card with another
Naturia monster, your opponent cannot activate Magic
or Trap cards...in a word, that is phenomenal, as
your opponent must attack you.
To shut down 2 out of 3 cards your opponent draws
is wonderful, but sadly, we only have 2000 attack
and defense to back this card up. It doesn't specify
a position, simply face-up, so that helps boost
playability a bit. Something just to hold on to, or
trade for now I think...
Ratings:
1.5/5 both Formats

Naturia Bamboo Shoot ...
I like this guy. Simple and effective and probably
has the potential to create some brilliant locks in
the game.
2000 ATK and DEF aint all that much ... especially
for a tribute monster - its kinda sucks. But if he
was tribute summoned with a Naturia monster, your
opponent cannot activate any spells or traps. How
cool is that? - That's 2/3 of most people's arsenal.
They still have their effect monsters to get them
out of a pinch, but they still have to contend with
YOUR spells and traps.
Add Destiny Hero Plasma or something to shut them
down even further ... ahhh ... Naturia .... There is
a lot of fun to be had with these cards ...

Naturia Bamboo Shoot:
This is one of the more hyped cards being
released to us in Duelist Revolution, and with good
reason. It can shut down your opponent's spell AND
trap cards, which is an amazing effect for ONE card
to have. It's also incredibly easy to get to the
field, as it is a 5 star, and Naturias have their
own Tree-Born Frog in Naturia Pineapple, so the
tribute fodder should always be there when needed. I
think as the format slows down, control decks are
going to be very popular come September 1st. Glads,
Herald, and now, Naturias are set to have some time
to shine, until everything takes a back-seat to the
Fabled and Scrap archetypes. A few important things
to remember about Bamboo Shoot are that he cannot
negate cards that were already on the field prior to
his summoning, and if he is flipped face-down
somehow, and then flipped face-up again his effect
will not be active. Also of note: Ryko is this guy's
worst nightmare, and I think we are going to
continue to see him splashed in many decks as a kind
of "cure-all" to problem cards such as this.
Blackwings have an absurd amount of outs against
this card, as Gale can run over it easily and Kalut
makes almost any of there monsters capable of
killing Bamboo Shoot in battle, AND... their main
decked Oppressions can stop Pineapple from hitting
the field. So watch out for that match-up if you
intend on using Naturias in the upcoming format.
Traditional: 3.0
Advanced: 3.5 (will most likely rise after I get to
see this card in action)

Naturia Bamboo Shoot is a somewhat controversial
monster, and for a reason. I'm pretty sure this
topped a big tournament in Japan. It's like the new
Jinzo, only better. With just a single tribute, your
opponent is now unable to use any spells or traps!
No cost to keep this guy going. Naturias can easily
stop special summoning, and Royal Oppression makes
this very, very easy.
Having to tribute a Naturia monster is no
problem. Just to make sure Naturias would wreck and
make Konami lots of money when you want your own,
Konami made Naturia Treeborn Frog, and also made the
pineapple a secret rare. The only downside is that
it only has 2000 ATK, but does that really matter
when your opponent can't special summon or activate
ANY Spells OR Traps? Come on, Konami, quit with the
ridiculous power creep.
4.8/5
Art: Aww, it's so cute-NO! NO! YOU CAN FIGHT IT!
Fun Fact: Bamboo shoots are edible. Cards are not.
Well, technically, they are, but it's not
recommended.
Tomorrow: This card isn't nice to women. It's just
mean. To everyone.

Naturia Bamboo Shoot
I promised I'd do this, so here's a shout out to
those guys I know from Jimmy's in Whittier whose
names I didn't catch! lol.
OK, so Naturia Bamboo Shoot. This is a much talked
about card, being an EARTH Plant, 5 stars, 2000 ATK
and DEF. Not bad so far.
If you tribute summon it by tributing a Naturia
monster, your opponent cannot activate spells or
traps. Old school Horus lock all in one card? Yes
please.
The best combo with this would be Naturia Pineapple,
which is essentially a Treeborn Frog for plants. It
can easily be fit into any Naturia deck to create
trouble for your opponents. 2000 ATK/DEF isn't
anything amazing, though, so be sure to drop some
protection alongside him to keep him from dying to
stuff like Cyber Dragon or Goyo.
Monarchs will pick this guy apart, too.
Traditional: 1/5 Way too slow, I don't think this
would work here.
Advanced: 4/5 Very powerful here, but several common
strategies can mess him up.
Art: I always imagined bamboo shoots as those things
in Chinese food.
Now I will imagine these things in my Chinese food.
It's ruined my life. ;__;

Well, looks like I get a chance to
review something I missed last
month:
Naturia Bamboo Shoot.
This is a Level 5 Earth/Plant
with a mere 2000 ATK and DEF and of
course can tap
Naturia support.
The low ATK/DEF compensates
for an amazing effect: so long as
the monster you offer as Tribute for
a Tribute Summon is a
Naturia monster, your opponent
cannot activate Spells or Traps!
You still can, though, so an
“incomplete” lockdown tactic is
relatively easy.
Almost scarily, you can even
bust this out first turn with
Naturia Pineapple (essentially a
Treeborn Frog for
Naturia decks) and
Hand Destruction: pitch a
Pineapple during Stand By Phase,
revive it, and in your Main Phase
sacrifice
Pineapple for
Bamboo Shoot.
You have quite a few options for
dealing with effect monsters:
anything from going whole hog by
running
Destiny
Hero – Plasma to shut down your
opponent’s effects to just running
some appropriate Counter Traps.
As for opposing monsters
overpowering
Bamboo Shoot with brute force,
2000 ATK is still plenty big when
backed up by
Shrink or
Rush Recklessly, let alone
generic destructive traps (Sakuretsu
Armor).
You could even add a card
like
Mist Body so that your opponent
simply can’t destroy
Bamboo Shoot through battle.
Ratings
Traditional:
2/5 – I wonder if one could attempt
a “first turn lock” deck with this
and the right cards.
Without Spells and Traps
setting the field for them, all the
other decks would grind to a halt.
Too bad it probably isn’t
reliable and your opponent might
just toss
Chaos Fodder when you use
Hand Destruction.
Advanced:
4/5 – Seems like a very potent card,
yet I haven’t really seen it being
used.
Then again, I haven’t allowed
much time to look for it.
I am still selling my former
collectables on eBay. I’ve had
a lot of hobbies over the years, so
at various times I’ll have comic
books, manga, action figures, and
video games on the auction block.
You can take a look at what’s up for
bids
here. I usually add new stuff
on Wednesdays and Saturdays.
Just a reminder, Pojo is in no way
responsible for any transactions and
was merely kind enough to let me
mention the auctions here. ;)
