Pojo's Yu-Gi-Oh Card of the Day

Dragon Knight Draco-Equiste
#DREV-EN038

1 Dragon-Type Synchro Monster + 1 Warrior-Type Monster. This monster can only be Special Summoned by Fusion Summon (from the Extra Deck). Once per turn, you can select 1 Dragon-Type Synchro Monster in the Graveyard. Remove it from play, treat this card's name as that monster's name, and give this card the same effects as that monster, until the End Phase. While this card is in face-up Attack Position, any effect damage you would take from an opponent's card effect is inflicted to your opponent instead.

Card Ratings
Traditional: 1.40

Ratings are based on a 1 to 5 scale
1 being the worst. 3 is average. 5 is the highest rating.

Dark Paladin

Monday

Dragon Knight Draco-Equiste, a new Fusion monster that employs the idea of using Synchro Monsters as Fusion material monsters, something that might actually prompt me to write an article in the near future...

Anyway, this is a Level 10 Fusion monster with 3200 attack and 2000 defense, both very low values. You should be looking at 4000 attack come Level 10, or at least 3500...and 2000 defense is just wretched.
Now, the Fusion material monsters are very vague...one Dragon-type Synchro and one Warrior-type monster.

Moving along, our Dragon Knight is of the Wind attribute, which is all but meaningless, and has the absorption/duplicate personality, meaning by removing one Dragon-type Synchro from your Graveyard this card gains the name, and effect(s) of that card until the End Phase.

That alone hardly warrants playing this card, but for a nice bit of insurance, while in face-up attack position, any effect Damage you take from an opponent's card is dealt to them instead. It's nice, but some added in protection to the card would have been nice. Like I said, I don't want to expand TOO much into my thoughts as I want to do an article here...

Dragon Knight Draco-Equiste ...

Crap.

It's ATK is big, but so what?
It's not THAT big. And then it's hard as hell to summon. Most of the Dragon Synchros u will be using will be pretty excellent on their own. To waste the effort (in addition to the Extra Deck space) to try and then fusion THIS out, which, at best, will do the same thing as your dragon, but only for 1 turn?!?! ... uhg. Oh, and it reflects effect damage your opponent tries to cause back at them ... So if u are playing against a burn deck, and u foolishly built a deck around this garbage Dragon Knight, u might feel slightly validated.

I hate it even more cuz they made it an Ultra rare. Such a waste.

Dragon Knight Draco-Equiste:

It really is too bad that this card isn't as bad-ass as it's picture. Because it sucks, just plain ol' sucks. Hate all you want, but you know deep down inside, even if you are a fan of this card, that it is terrible. Why do we keep getting these increasingly difficult to summon Dragons? Even if you do get him to the field, his effect isn't enough to warrant all the trouble it takes to get him there. Copying a dragons effect, and anti-burn (which nobody plays outside of Frog FTK, and this card can't save you from that deck anyway...), is all you get. Copying the effect of monsters from the graveyard can already be accomplished by cards that are much easier to get to the field. Yeah, you can copy your opponent's dragon synchro's effects too, if they have any in the graveyard, whoop -t-do. This card just isn't competitive.

Traditional: 1.0 (can join the ranks of the other ridiculous fusions that nobody plays)
Advanced: 1.5 (the picture got it the .5 here I think...)

I chose the cards for this week, and boy do we have a week! We're starting off with Yusei's Dragon Knight Draco-Equiste, the cover card for Duelist Revolution. This is one of the new Synchro Fusions (Don't worry, it's just a fad), and you use a Warrior and a Synchro Dragon. Yikes. That's not very easy. Well, you can remove a Synchro Dragon from play to steal its effects, but...

Choosing Black Rose Dragon won't blow up the field, because that only happens right on the summon. You're probably using Miracle Synchro Fusion to make this, meaning whatever Dragon you used to make it will already be removed from play. Nice card design, Konami. That aside, its second ability is just another useless, random burn-hate card. Don't we already have 100 anti-burn cards? Seriously, again, Konami...

The only fun thing about this card is using Super Polymerization to make it with your opponent's monsters, but that's kinda situational, and doesn't justify the hand discard and inconsistency. Overall, this is just another one of Konami's ways of saying, "Please use this to rip off the little kid who pulled that Pot of Duality".

2/5
Art: Don't forget the oversized lance! (his name also means lance)
What?: The new Fusion monsters actually state in the text that they go in the Extra deck. What?
Tomorrow: Pew pew pew!

Dragon Knight Draco-Equiste

Hey all, I'm back to writing after my own vacation, then Pojo's! We'll start off with Dragon Knight Draco-Equiste. As a WIND Dragon with 3200 ATK and 2000 DEF, it's got some pretty good stats for a Fusion.

You can only summon this card by fusing a Dragon-type Synchro monster with a Warrior-type monster. Most decks won't be able to pull this off, but I think this card really shines in an Elemental Hero deck that is already playing Super Polymerization. Heroes are known for being able to Super Poly using almost any opposing monster to make cards like Absolute Zero, Gaia, and future releases like The Shining.
Draco-Equiste takes this a step further and really abuses the opponent's Synchros.

Draco-Equiste has two effects. While it's in attack position, it reflects all effect damage back at your opponent. This won't come into play very often, but can be useful if you run into a random Magic Cylinder, or if your opponent's Thestalos nails a monster out of your hand.

What makes Draco-Equiste really great is the ability to copy Dragon-type Synchros out of the graveyard. It can become a defense crushing Red Dragon Archfiend, an auto-killing Exploder Dragonwing, or a temporary Stardust Dragon, depending on what was used already in the duel. It can be especially useful to remove an opponent's Stardust before it revives itself. Even if you're not gaining anything useful, it's nice to be able to remove your opponent's Black Rose Dragon, etc.
so they can't recycle it with Pot of Avarice.

Again, I stress that the only really efficient way to use this (to my
knowledge) is with Super Polymerization in a deck that already uses it, like Elemental Heroes. Otherwise, it's really not worth the investment.

Traditional: 1/5 You will never get a chance to summon it here.
Advanced: 3/5 Great in a Super Poly Hero deck, rather useless everywhere else.
Art: 3/5 It's pretty cool, but nothing amazing.
