Wednesday
Darkworld Shackles closes this short week. We
have an Equip Magic card, which is very seldom a
good thing. Anyway, the equipped monster
cannot attack, and its attack and defense become
100. During each of your Standby Phases, you
inflict 500 damage to the controller of the monster
equipped with this card.
It's actually not terrible as far as equips go.
You're obviously best of using this on a Synchro,
Tribute, or something powerful. A weak monster
would likely be Tributed, Synchroed, etc. At
best, you're probably only getting two or three
turns before this gets destroyed.

Darkworld Shackles …
Ahh, the lost art of the Burn/Lockdown. “Too little,
too late”?
Well, not necessarily. Darkworld Shackles (which has
nothing to do with Dark World Monsters) will, quite
simply enough, attach to a monster (preferably, but
not necessarily your opponent’s), will keep it from
attacking, and drain the owner of 500 LP each turn.
An equip spell form of Nightmare Wheel. Pretty nice
bit of extra added burn for a deck type that nobody
plays … but it would definitely be fun to take
this for a spin.
Of course, being an equip spell, it falls victim to
all the prejudices that continuous spells and traps
endure. Sure – MST. Whatever. Them’s the breaks in
life.
Although on top of stopping attack and burning it
also brings even the strongest monster to its knees
dropping them to a 100 ATK and DEF. So if u get to
the point where u want or need to just kill their
monster through battle? – Darkworld Shackles helps u
with that as well. Take THAT, Stardust Dragon!
For those taking another swing at Lockdown/Burn? -

The
Legion |
Today’s card is Darkworld Shackles, which has all
around monster hate written all over it. The monster
it’s equipped to can’t attack, and its ATK and DEF
turn to 100. AND during each of your standby phases,
the controller of the equipped monster takes 500
points of damage.
This has so much meta hate on it that it is full of
uses. For starters, blackwings, if they get any of
their synchros out, especially their armor master,
then equip this to it, and it is stuck on the field
as a low stat monster that is being burned on. Your
opponent’s only option is to tribute it for sirocco,
or to tribute it for Icarus attack. Either way, they
are dropping a resource on him, or wasting one of
their 2 MST’s on the equip card.
With x-sabers, XX-saber gottoms goes from 3100 beat
stick, to an almost free direct attack. This is a
quick, drop and kill card, or a burn inducer for
those annoying cards that won’t die, or simply a
resource waster for your opponent. Any way you put
it, I like this card.

The
Crowing |
Here we have yet another "anti" equip card. You
equip one of these cards to your opponents monsters
and bad things happen to them. In this reincarnation
the equipped monster cant attack, (big surprise),
its attack and defense become 100 and the controller
of the equipped monster loses 500 lp each of your
standbyphases.
Its total crap, why bother going through all this
when you can just drop fissure/smashing ground?
Just another bit of filler trash

Darkworld Shackles has nothing to do with the
Dark World theme. Okay... Darkworld Shackles drains
all but 100 of a monster's ATK and the opponent
takes 500 damage during your Standby Phase. This is
an example of bad card design, because you'd have to
wait through your turn and all of the opponent's to
get your small burn.
Draining a monster's ATK can be handy, allowing you
to attack into it and kill it. I'd rather use Shrink
or Dimensional Prison to stop the opponent when they
think they'll be able to beat your monster. When you
use Darkworld Shackles to butter up an opposing
monster, you're going to lose the equip spell when
you kill it. I'd rather use something that lasts,
like Solidarity.

Art: Konami forgot to censor the horns. Maybe they
realized it doesn't matter.
Fun Fact: Five days until Golden Sun: Dark Dawn!
Look forward to Monday!
Tomorrow: I don't like Thanksgiving food...
