Dark Paladin |
Wednesday
Skull Meister is a very interesting, very useful
card, that you should certainly be side-decking.
We have a Dark, Fiend monster, Level 4, with 1700
attack and 400 defense, but past that, during either
player's turn, you can send this card from your Hand
to the Graveyard to negate the effect of a card when
activated in your opponent's Graveyard.
First, the ability to negate an effect in the
Graveyard is awesome. The ability to do it
during either players turn is equally awesome.
Now, what does this stop? Synchros that can
Summon from the Graveyard, most noticably with
Blackwings. It's versatile, and I like it, a
lot.

Traditional: 3/5
Advanced: 4/5
Art: 5/5 Again looks like something out
of a Japanese anime, not sure which one though. |

Skull Meister ...
Well if there are 2 things Freeza loves – it’s
Fiends and Simple effects. Skull Meister has the 1st
one down pat, but the 2nd one? … well that’s the
trick with him …
1st off – this card just LOOKS straight up
badd-assss! One of the coolest Fiend pics they’ve
ever made in Yu-gi oh, so u KNOW I’ll give it extra
points for that. It’s Dark – (duh and awesome), 4
stars – good, and a respectable enough 1700 ATK. But
then it’s effect – could either be awesome or just –
bleh. It SEEMS simple enough. Opponent activates a
graveyard effect – Skull Meister knocks it out.
Perfect. …. Or IS it? … In theory it should stop
Sangans and Dandylions and all that crap …. But
there are just a whole host of other cards with
dubious wording and questionable rulings, that only
the most dedicated level 99 Judges will be able to
properly convey to the poor sap that just dropped
his Skull Meister trying to snuff a Treeborn Frog.
It starts to become ‘not worth it’, when u find out
all the things that it can’t do. And then the sheer
idea of holding a card just for the sole purpose of
having a clever response to your opponent’s action?
Waiting for your opponent to get momentum is NOT the
best play strategy in Yu-gi oh. Had Skull Meister
given u anything ELSE after dropping to negate the
effect? – like Special summoning himself afterwards?
– maybe we could talk. But … nope.
One of those cards that u really WANT to like and it
can do a little bit … but just doesn’t do enough.
Traditional: 2/5
Advanced: 2.5/5

Skull Meister is--*laughs* . . . Okay, sorry, I'm
just having trouble to believe that this badass
Skull card has been labeled a "meister", which, at
least in my world, translates to old man at the park
who likes to feed bread to birds and recount tales
of his youth. But enough about that.
He's the D.D. Crow for Sangan, GK Recruiter, normal
recruiter, Darksoul, bla bla bla . . . But is he
that great? Well, if X-Sabers and Gravekeepers are
getting all up in your meta, you could side this. In
a normal duel, you might not get to use him. Sure,
you could summon him as a 1700 vanilla, but that
probably won't help you. You should, again, stick
with D.D. Crow, as it will do more to more decks.
3/5
Art: Your emo friend would pay, like, five razors
for this thing.
Fun Fact: Golden Sun.
Tomorrow: Tone-deaf people use this.

Pheano |
Hey Pojo, Pheano here with another Card Of The
Day For you.
Today we will be taking a look at another Secret
Rare TCG exclusive from Starstrike Blast, Skull
Meister. Skull Meister is a Level four Dark Fiend
type Monster. During either player's turn, when a
card effect is activated in your opponent's
Graveyard, you can send this card from your hand to
the Graveyard to negate the effect.
How many people will look at this card will be that
this is just a bigger D.D. Crow but with a worse
Effect but they would be misjudging this card. It
has some of the same merits as D.D. Crow in its
ability to stop Graveyard based combos but this card
is able to stop different cards than D.D. Crow. One
of the great parts of this card is the fact that,
unlike D.D. Crow, this card can activate during the
Damage Step making it a great choice against cards
like Sangan, XX-Saber Darksoul, Mystic Tomato and
XX-Saber Emmersblade. To date there are only been
two other cards that could effectively do that;
Divine Wrath and Swallow Flip. Unlike those though
this has the benefit of being able to work in the
damage step. Two other notable cards that is can
stop would be a Wulf, Lightsworn Beast and Dandylion
when milled off of a Ryko, Lightsworn Hunter but in
that scenario I would rather have a Swallow Flip
since it would stop the Effect of Ryko, Lightsworn
Hunter completely but Skull Meister can stop them
outside of the Damage Step too. So this card ends up
being a mix between D.D. Crow and Swallow Flip, it
hits less cards than D.D. Crow but can activate in
the Damage Step and it hits less than Swallow Flip
but can work outside of the Damage Step. What you
end up getting is a card that is more versatile than
either of those two cards. I personally will be
sticking with D.D. Crow just because it has more
Synergy in my own deck. But I would consider this
over Effect Veiler against XX-Sabers since Effect
Veiler is there to stop their late game but Skull
Meister can stop them from getting to their late
game by controlling their early game.
In the Traditional Format this card its ok but it
only really stops Sangan and Witch Of The Black
Forest, you are better off using Effect Veiler to
stop FTK’s.
A side note: Konami is in the middle of 1.1 rules
for Starstrike Blast and the word is that this will
no longer activate in the Damage Step, if that
becomes the case then this card does just become a
mediocre D.D. Crow.
Bottom line:
This is the child of Swallow Flip and D.D. Crow and
its is going to go places.
Advanced: 3/5
Traditional: 2/5

The
Legion |
Let me introduce you to Skull Meister, or as I
like to call him, D.D. Crow with stats. That’s
almost all she is. Skull Meister is a Dark, 4-star
Fiend, with 1700 ATK and 400 DEF. He has an effect
most will find very similar to D.D. Crow: if an
effect is activated in the grave, you can discard it
to negate said effect. D.D. Crow only removes a
monster from play, though, so it’s only useful when
your opponent targets something in the graveyard,
while Skull Meister can negate ANY effect that
activates in the graveyard. Darksoul, Recruiter,
Emmersblade, the whole nine yards. So, she gets some
advantage there. Plus 1700 ATK isn’t too shabby, and
this card may be rather useful with the Fabled
archetype.
One thing that I must note, though, is this: As far
as I can tell, there is no ruling yet saying that he
can activate during the Damage Step. I spent quite a
while chasing this down to find…wait for it…nothing.
If Konami does not make said ruling to allow this
card activate then, the value of this card plummets.
So, we wait.
Traditional: 3 (Negating an effect and a free Dark
to the grave? Yes, please.)
Advanced: 2.5
Art: Um.. Is this thing a guy or a girl? I mean
seriously, Effect Veiler and now this!? What’s
Konami Trying to do to us?

The
Crowing |
Today we have for you Skull Meister. He is a DARK
Fiend with 1700 attack and 400 defense. Stats are ok
for a level 4 and attribute it great. Type is
horrible.
His effect is whenever an opponent activates an
effect that happens in your opponents graveyard
(Stardust Dragon, Plaguespreader,etc) you can
discard this card from your hand to negate it. So
its like a graveyard effect veiler. His effect is
ok...but D.D crow does his job better, as with most
cards that happen in the grave, you can remove the
target from play. the only exception is Magical
Stone Excavation or Mask of Darkness, which target
spells and traps respectively, which D.D Crow cant
stop but Skull Meiser can, But no one uses the
mentioned cards, so the point is moot.
Traditional 1/5
Advanced-2/5
Art- Looks more like a Zombie or Warrior then
a fiend.
