Tuesday
Shorter review today, we have Swift Scarecrow, a
Level 1, Earth type monster, a Machine, with 0
attack and defense. The beauty here, is by
discarding this card from your Hand, you can negate
the attack and end the Battle Phase.
Quite useful in a tight spot I think. A solid
piece of tech I believe, and while the effect can
only be used during a direct attack, I wouldn't let
that stop you from playing it.
Ratings:
3/5 both Formats

Swift Scarecrow ...
Meh. The holidays are around the corner, so we're
all pretty busy and don't have a whole lot of time
to waste on things ... So i won't bore u with a
whole lot about a card that doesn't warrant it.
Swift Scarecrow coulda been better, but he's not. U
drop him - he blocks a direct attack and ends the
battle phase. Very similar to a machine type of
Kuriboh, but not as good, since (as i understand
things) Kuriboh's effect goes during the damage
step, thus can't be negated, while Swift Scarecrow
can. (if i'm wrong, please correct me on the message
boards which i will not read)
Anyway - who cares? Why would u even want to waste a
draw since he does nothing else for u. Not a tuner.
Doesn't special summon itself later. No ATK or DEF
to speak of. Pointless.
Had it ended the TURN when discarded and not just
the battle phase, we might have something here, but
... nope!

Swift Scarecrow is a card you'll hate, because
only Final Countdown/irritating stall will use it.
It's another Battle Fader, but it doesn't summon
itself, so it's way, way worse. Even as a budget
card . . . because Battle Fader is a budget card
now, too.
1.5/5 outside of Irritating Stall decks.
Art: Scrap-Iron Scarecrow is jelly.
Fun Fact: Kalin kicks people a lot.
Tomorrow: Jack, stop trying.

Pheano |
Hey Pojo, Pheano here with another Card Of The
Day For you.
Today we will be taking a look at Swift Scarecrow.
Swift Scarecrow is a Level one Earth Machine Monster
with zero Attack and Defense. Its effect reads; When
your opponent's monster declares a direct attack,
you can discard this card to negate that attack and
end the Battle Phase.
I don’t feel that much needs to be said about this
card. Battle Fader does the same thing as this but
better since you get to keep the Monster after on
the field for use as a Tribute or in a Synchro
Summon. On top of that Battle Fader is food for
Allure Of Darkness, Dark Armed Dragon and Chaos
Sorcerer which are commonly played cards in the deck
that this is used in which would be Black Salvo
based decks. Being an Earth Monster there isn’t much
support that this has access to in the decks it
would be used in. Stopping the Battle Phase is good
but there are better cards to play for that over
this. The only thing that this does that Battle
Fader can not is let you stop the Battle Phase even
if your opponent has a Royal Oppression or Solemn
Warning, but that isn’t enough of a reason to play
this over Battle Fader.
In the Traditional Format the Battle Phase isn’t
important so being able to stop it wouldn’t impact
the game much, Effect Veiler would be a much better
card to have for a Monster you can use from your
hand on your opponent’s turn since it can stop FTK’s
like Frogs and Shadow Priestess Ohm.
Bottom line:
All in all this is just a worse Battle Fader.
Advanced: 1/5
Traditional: 1/5
Hit me up on Pojo or Youtube (pheanoblack) if you
have any comments or questions, I’m always open to
constructive criticism.

Puppet Master
The
Legion |
Today we’re reviewing Battle Fader’s second cousin,
Swift Scarecrow. Just like BF, this card comes out
of nowhere to stop an attack. Unlike its
counterpart, however, this card does not stay on the
field, but is discarded to the grave instead. This
card has its own ups and downs when being compared
with BF. The biggest downside is that you don’t get
the field presence that you gain by using BF, so you
can’t stop the attack and go straight into a monarch
on your next turn. The biggest upside to this card
is probably the ability to use Pot of Avarice with
this card, so you can shuffle them all back into
your deck to stop more attacks in later turns.
While this card may overall be worse than BF, it
doesn’t make this card unplayable, especially in
Final Countdown decks and stall burn decks. Now you
can have 6 cards to stop attacks without setting a
back row, or summoning a monster. Having this, on
top of all your other stalling cards, and you’ll
have a pretty impenetrable wall on your hands. I
think that this card will be showing up a lot in
stall decks along with its counterpart.
