Blackwing - Aurora the Northern
Lights
#STBL-EN016 This card cannot be Normal Summoned or Set. This card cannot be Special Summoned except by removing from play 2 face-up monsters you control (1 "Blackwing" Tuner and 1 non-Tuner). Once per turn, you can remove from play 1 "Blackwing" Synchro Monster from your Extra Deck. This card's name, ATK, and effects become the same as that monster's, until the End Phase.

Tuesday
It's a Bird!?!
Blackwing-Aurora of the Northern Lights opens the
week, and it does lots of things that many Blackwing
monsters do not. First, he's Level 10, and not a
Synchro monster, with ? attack and 0 defense, Light
attributed, and a Winged-Beast (surprise!)
You can't Normal Summon or Set this bird, but he
can only be Special Summoned by removing a face-up
Blackwing-Tuner and non-Tuner you control...which is
good this guy isn't a Synchro as Level 10 would be
hard to accomplish, while this is more or less an
a-typical Blackwing ploy.
Once a turn, you can remove a Blackwing Synchro
Monster from your Extra Deck, and until the End
Phase, Aurora of the Norther Lights becomes that
monster...name, attack, and any effects said Synchro
monster may have. This is really interesting, as
this isn't a bad card at all, but in an all ready
loaded Blackwing arsenal, do you need it?

Assailant
The
Legion |
Finally I get to review an actually good card.
Anyway, this is Assailant of Team Legion here with
your Card of the Day. Today’s card is Supreme
Arcanite Magician. This fusion monster has 1400 ATK
and 2800 DEF and an effect very similar to its
younger sibling, Arcanite Magician. When it is
fusion summoned, put 2 spell counters on him, this
card gains 1000 ATK for each counter on him, yada,
yada. This puts him on the field at a whopping 3400
ATK, which isn't shabby to say the least. During
your turn, you can remove a spell counter from your
side of the field to either destroy one card on the
field, or draw one card.
If you’re playing any kind of Spellcaster deck, this
card makes for a pretty good boss monster, the only
downside being that you have to throw in
polymerization, which might not be optimal for any
kind of deck these days. But the beauty of this card
can actually be seen in siding in Super
Polymerization. If you ever happen to be playing
against a Spellcaster deck, which, in case you've
been living under a rock these days, just won 1st,
2nd, and 3rd place at YCS Atlanta, this thing is
hilariously easy to summon. If your opponent has any
kind of Spellcaster on the field, and if you can
pull off the synchro summon of a 6 or 7 star, you
can go right into this guy. If you have a Spellcater
on your side of the field, and your opponent has any
kind of Spellcaster synchro, BAM, instant -1 for
your opponent and now they've got this.. colossus of
a thing to deal with. Which probably won't be easy.
Think Chimeratech Fortress Dragon versus Gadgets or
Dragon Knight Draco-Equiste versus Little City STUN.
So, as far as I can see, there is no downside to
throwing this thing in your extra deck, just in
case.

The
Crowing |
Well short week this week since its Christmas on
Saturday.
We open up with Blackwing Aurora of the Northern
Lights. Who breaks all the rules of the blackwings.
Because its a level 10 LIGHT Winged Beast with ?
attack and 0 defense.
It cannot be normal summoned or set and must be
special summoned by removing two face up monsters
you control and one of them has to be a tuner and
the other a non tuner. After you've done this you
can remove from play a Blackwing Synchro monster in
your Extra Deck from play to have this card gain the
name, attack and effect of said monster removed,
until the end phase.
So, yeah thats a lot of removing. And if you have
a blackwing tuner on the field and a non tuner
monster why not just synchro it right then and
there? This card makes no logical sense and I cant
see why you would ever want to run it, unless you
were making some terrible Macro Blackwings or
something.
Both Formats 1/5
Art- I kinda like it. a bird in the background of
the Aurora borialis.

The
Legion |
Today’s card, in keeping with the Christmas
theme, is Blackwing – Aurora the Northern Lights.
He’s a 10 star Light Winged Beast with ? ATK and no
Def. He’s summoned by removing from play a Blackwing
tuner and another monster you control, and, once per
turn, you can remove from play a Blackwing Synchro
in your extra deck to give this guy the removed
monster’s name, ATK, and effect until the End Phase.
All in all, this card seems pretty useless. He’s
summoned just like a synchro, except that the
material monsters are removed from play instead of
sent to the grave, and you have to have this guy in
your hand to use, unlike Synchros. The only upside
would be that you don’t have to match star levels to
summon this guy, but he’s still left as a 0/0
sitting duck (no pun intended) at the end of the
turn. And at 10 stars, there’s no way you’re going
to be able to use this as synchro material to keep
it from being run over next turn. There are just too
many better cards for Blackwing players to use than
this.
Traditional: 1/5
Advanced: 1.5/5
Art: Probably the most ‘birdlike’ Blackwing so far
Fun Fact: He’s the only light type Blackwing
Another Fun Fact: This card was reviewed before on
