Battle Fader ...
New week ... new cards ... let's go!
Battle Fader is from the new set Absolute Powerforce,
and is quite a lovely monster indeed. It's one of
those monsters that just simply improves on the
design of an older monster, making the original
totally obsolete. That monster that it improved
upon? - Kuriboh. Battle Fader, much like Kuriboh, is
a level 1 dark Fiend. And those that know Freeza,
know he is instantly partial to the fiend types.
What's special about the fiend's new BF is how
protective he can be. Simply - your opponent
declares a direct attack and u can special summon
him from your hand. Not only do u then end your
opponent's whole battle phase, but now u have a
monster on the field to tribute next turn, if need
be, or use for Syncho summoning, or whatever. So
while Kuriboh only protected u from one attack, BF
stops all attacks that turn and gives u field
presence. In a sense, he's like a COMBINATION of
Kuriboh AND Cyber Valley all rolled into one. Sure,
BF is removed from play when he is removed from the
field, but it is just as well. He served his purpose
by then, giving u another shot at life, the next
turn.
A super turn of events would be to have someone
bounce a facedown Battle Fader back to your hand
with their Brionac, only for u to make the MOST of
the situation, slow Brionac's roll, and bring BF
back to the field, screwing your opponent's dreams
of an OTK.
BF is awesome, and just about ANY deck can put
him to work.

Battle Fader, the card that apparently everyone
will be after. Its a level 1 Dark monster, no attack
or defense. When your opponent declares a direct
attack, you can special summon it and end the battle
phase, and it is removed from play whenever its
removed from the field. It is a decent card, but in
some ways I dont see much of a difference in using
this, Waboku or Threatening Roar. I pretty much say
the difference is Battle Fader provides a free
monster that I guess you could use for a Synchro
Summon or tribute off for Caius or something else.
Its a dark monster so it can be removed for Allure's
effect and its a level 1 so you can use One for One
to summon it from the deck if you need it for
tribute fodder, or a synchro material. Personally I
would much rather use Tragoedia, Gorz, Waboku or
Threatening Roar, but thats just me. Battle Fader is
a decent card, perhaps theres something im not
seeing, but I would still rather use something like
Threatening Roar to potentially make the opponent
waste their Mystical Space Typhoon/Heavy Storm/etc.

Go Saints! But seriously...
Battle Fader:
This card levels the playing field and that is
exactly what this game needs right now. It's sort of
like a Kuriboh on meth (kuriboh got a shout out last
week as well, popular fellow). There will be many
ways to abuse this card and I'm sure that Monarch
players in particular are smooting their pants over
this gem. I have been messing around with a Fiend
based "from hand" deck for casual play lately and
Fader fits right in. Kuriboh (seriously, the flute
of summoning kuriboh makes him suck way less), Gorz,
Tragoedia, Battle Fader, Tongue Twister (-yeah, look
that one up), and some other choice fiends make for
a really fun deck. I might even be able to include
Darkness Neosphere thanks to Fader! OK, probably
not, but Battle Fader is a great card, and one that
will help slow down the meta if the March ban list
doesn't do it enough.
Traditional: 4.0 (If you can get it in your hand
quick enough)

Dark Paladin |
Monday
We're reviewing Ancient Prophecy cards this week,
starting with Battle Fader. It's quite the
interesting card, and does exactly what it's name
suggests, at least to a point. We have a Dark
attributed, Level 1, Fiend type monster, with 0
attack and 0 defense.
However, you probably are never ever going to use
Battle Fader to attack (obviously) or even defend
your Lifepoints. Not in a defense position anyway.
When your opponent attacks you directly, you can
Special Summon Battle Fader from your Hand.
This immediately ends the Battle Phase, which in
a word, is awesome.
Furthermore, if you Special Summon Battle Fader in
this manner, it removes itself from play when it is
removed from the Field. I think Battle Fader is a
beautiful Tech card and you might be seeing more of
it than not.
