Clear Vice Dragon …
CVD is very interesting. I tried to make a deck
with this dude a couple times and I haven’t been too
successful … But he’s really cool and has a lot of
things going for him. For 1 – he’s 8 stars.
Basically – Trade In should come to mind. He’s Dark.
So everything ELSE should come to mind. He’s a
dragon, so he gains a lot of support in that
capacity. Red Eyes Darkness Metal Dragon should
quicken him to the field. And CVD’s “?” strength
allows him to handily defeat ANY monster in battle …
and the stronger the monster he fights, the more of
a hit the opponent takes, since his ATK will always
be double the attack of his target during damage
calculations. Awesome. And the rulings stated that
he will even outfight a monster boosted by Honest or
Kalut, as CVD’s boost will trigger after his
opponent’s does, making the damage your opponent
receives even GREATER!
Want some more? – Well CVD has a self protection
mechanism as well. To protect him from card effects
that would destroy him, u can discard 1 card. That
is awesome. No mirror forces, no torrential
tributes, no nothing. As if that couldn’t be any
sweeter – this discard is part of CVD’s effect, not
a cost, so that instantly means – Dark World (my
all-time fave) has a new weapon to consider.
So then with all this going for him – what is
WRONG with CVD? … well he is almost spread too thin.
To play with Red Eye Darkness Metal – u need to be
playing with a fair amount of Dragons to start. But
to make the most of CVD’s discard – u always want a
fair amount of Dark World. And since CVD is the
primary reason u are playing this, u need to play
with other cards to quicken him to the field.
Special summons like Jester Confit so u can tribute,
and so forth. Essentially – u have all these moving
parts that are all fair enough parts, but just
aren’t as cohesive in practice as they are in
theory. Especially when your opponent is running
over u all day long with their lightning fast
Lightsworns and Blackwings, while u are still trying
to get set up … PLUS – we’ve ignored CVD’s GLARING
downside – he is ridiculously vulnerable to attack.
His boosting effect only works on YOUR turn, so on
your opponent’s turn – his attack becomes zero …
thus, even a Treeborn Frog can take him out. After
everything u have invested in him, that would be
quite a shame, so u want some decent protection in
the form of spells and traps in order to keep him
alive …
Which weighs down your deck even more.
Yeah, he’s a tough one to break. So much good
stuff going for him, but no proper outlet to
effectively express himself.

Clear Vice Dragon's a pretty cool looking card,
am I right? Some basic things about it are pretty
cool, its a level 8 monster and its a dark monster.
So its Allure fodder and Trade-In fodder. It's also
a dragon monster that can be special summoned, so
that means you can use Red-Eyes Darkness Metal
Dragon with it if you wanted to. With that you can
see its already pretty cool. Onto its effects, its
unaffected by any effect of the field spell Clear
World, and only if it attacks, it gains attack
points equal to double the attack of the target
monster during damage calculation only. This means
that if the opponent attacks it, Clear Vice Dragon
stands at 0 ATK making it pretty easy to get over,
but again thats where Red-Eyes Darkness Metal Dragon
would come in handy, since you can just bring it
back and attack again. Its last effect is if it
would be destroyed by an opponent's card effect you
can discard a card instead. Thats pretty useful
against cards like Mirror Force, Torrential Tribute,
and various others. Personally I think that this
card could only fit into a deck with Red-Eyes
Darkness Metal Dragon, and that'd mainly just be a
new variant of Hopeless Dragon. But it is still a
rather cool and decent card.

Clear Vice Dragon:
I wish there were more monsters to support clear
world, unfortunately, this is all we got... for now.
So his type/level/attribute (dragon/8/dark) say
awesome! That's super easy to support. Then you read
the effect and hope dwindles to nothingness. It is
not a terrible effect, but you had better be winning
the turn that you drop him, because he will die from
battle next turn considering his atk will be 0.
Would have been better just to have a 3000 atk
monster with just the first and last parts of the
effect.
