Power Frame is a very interesting Trap, something no one will probably use, ever, but that doesn't mean it's not worth using.  If your monster is attacked by something stronger, you negate the attack and equip this card to your monster that was targeted.  The equipped monster gains the attack equal to the difference in attack between the two monsters.

All right, it isn't THAT interesting, but it could be useful in a pinch I suppose.  In reality, it's really the poor mans Megamorph...super poor mans, since Megamorph isn't even hard to get...

Greg Power Frame:

I think I'd rather use Kunai with Chain than this card... and that's not saying much.  But seriously, this card's effect is incredibly verbose, but in actuality, it doesn't really do that much.  It stops an opponent's attack, and it adds the difference of Atk values between the 2 battling monsters to your monster's Atk score.  Whoop-T-Doo.  Too bad a Book of Moon or Dust Tornado pretty much ruin this card, and those cards are in every deck right now in 2s and 3s.  There are too many specific requirements for this card to be effective.  Why do they print cards like this when we already have cards like Enemy Controller, Shrink, Rush Recklessly, Kunai with Chain, Magical Arm Shield, etc etc etc... the list goes on forever of cards that are similar to this one, just better.  Did we really need a Negate Attack combined with an equip spell?  I don't know about you, but I would just rather get the attack boost and let their monster ram into mine and commit suicide.

All right Pojoers, we end the week with the Normal Trap Power Frame.  It can only be activated when a face-up monster you control is selected as an attack target by an opponent’s monster with a higher ATK.  Neither is hugely restrictive: attacking is a fundamental part of winning the game for 95% of decks; higher if we are talking good decks.  Sometimes a player will attack with something smaller due to an effect or desire to “suicide it” (again, usually to trigger an effect) but by and large, you’ll have your opponent’s larger monster attacking your smaller.   The effect negates that attack (okay, but destroying is usually preferred) and then you equip Power Frame to the monster that was attacked.  The equipped monster gains ATK equal to the difference between the two Monsters.  So Stardust Dragon decides to run over your beatstick, you can pump up your beatstick.

Problem is what to do after that.  You aren’t bigger than what attacked you, and it seems like a waste to use the saved monster as Tribute fodder or the like.  The best you seem to be able to do is suicide right back into them… only they might activate a Sakurestu Armor and now you’re worse off than when you started.

There is a small bright side to this card.  First there are a few monsters with built in protection from dying in battle.  This… just becomes a fancy way to increase ATK.  That’s not really all that good, is it?  Okay, I’ll try one more: Armed Samurai – Ben Kei and friends can use this to seriously beef up, then next turn slap another ATK boosting card down (or something to enable direct attacks) and then go to town.

This wasn’t a bad idea, but I think they could have allowed it to straight-up add the attackers ATK to the equipped monster.  It’s just easier to run something to blow up the opposing monster.

I’d also like to add I’ll be selling quite a bit of my soon-to-be-former possessions on eBay.  You can take a look here at my second auction if you’re interested in a Nintendo GameCube with some accessories and 17 games!  Just a reminder, Pojo is in no way responsible for this and was merely kind enough to let me mention the auction here. ;)

We review another Super Rare this week - Power Frame. It's not very powerful. Basically, it just negates an attack and gives the target power to suicide into it. Why not use something like Dimensional Prison, that will get rid of the monster altogether? You'll take a much larger ATK difference off the field.

Art: Even less thought was put into the art.
Fun Fact: But I do like cubes.
Tomorrow: I know something that's even funnier than 24... 25!

Simple review today.  Which would you rather do?  Get rid of an opposing monster, or negate its attack and try to kamikaze it the next turn, risking your opponent retaliating?  You almost always want to get rid of that monster.  Dimensional Prison, Mirror Force, Compulsory Evacuation Device, even Sakuretsu Armor is better that Power Frame.  The attack boost isn't enough to run it over any other removal card.
