Magidog
#TSHD-EN023 If this card is sent to the Graveyard for the Synchro Summon of a Spellcaster-Type Synchro Monster, you can add 1 Field Spell Card from your Graveyard to your hand.

Magidog
And after an absence of waaaaaaay too long due to
film production and work, I am back with a review of
the second Magic Pet monsters (The first was Magicat).
As far as stats go it is a 1700 ATK and 1000 DEF
level 4 LIGHT Spellcaster. These stats are pretty
good, as LIGHT monsters are the second best
ATTRIBUTE and 1700 ATK on a 4 star is about average.
The effect is actually not very good. When you
Synchro Summon a monster using this little pup, you
get to add one Field Spell card from your graveyard
to your hand. While useful in that it gives you
cards, there are easier ways to get advantage in
this game. It is better to use cards like Destiny
Hero Malicious, Sangan and Goblin Zombie for Synchro
Summons as you can build a deck around them and they
get you monsters, which are more important than a
spent Field Spell.
It is a Spellcaster, so it might find a home
there with Magical Citadel of Endymion. At that
point however, you would probably rather have
Terraforming to power up an on field Citadel and it
is situational in that you do have to Synchro
Summon.
This is just not e very good card. It would have
been good I think even if it had said Field,
Continuous or Quickplay. Then it would see play. As
far as I am concerned, the decks that would use this
have better options and therefore it is not a good
card by any means.

Magidog:
Anybody else think this guy looks like Star Fox from
the Nintendo universe? Unfortunately that's
about all this card has going for it. Stats
are low enough to be run over everything that
matters (Firedog, Shura, etc...) And IF
you use this guy for a Synchro Summon, you can get a
field spell back from your graveyard? Stupid
effect. Nobody uses field spells except for
maybe Gravekeepers, and then to add the Synchro
restriction to the effect is just dumb. I
guess they want you to use this guy in a Secret
Village deck maybe? I have no idea what they
had in mind while making this card, but we could
have done without it in my opinion.
Traditional: 1.5
Advanced: 1.5 (stupid starfox with your
seizure inducing graphics and bad yugioh cards)

Our next card this week is Magidog, the counterpart
to Magicat. Magicat wasn't all that great, and
Magidog is even worse. Although he does have nice
stats, his effect isn't really needed. If your
Magical Citadel of Endymion has somehow been
destroyed, and you don't even have another one
eagerly waiting to fill in, but you do happen to
have Night's-End Sorcerer on the field and Magidog
in your hand, or vice-versa, you can get your
Citadel back.
Spellcaster decks have a lot of cool cards they can
run, and they're better off using cards that will
support the deck more. You want to focus more on
Breaker and Defender and cycling tuners, etc. with
things like Magical Exemplar. Stick with cards that
give you stronger and more consistent supports,
because you're not likely to only get one Citadel
and have it wiped off before you get another, but be
able to make a Spellcaster Synchro.
2/5
Art: I wouldn't pet that dog. Would you?
Fun Fact: Gol and Mia's Citadel. Oh my jeebus the
nostalgia hits you.
Tomorrow: A theme I don't like.

Magidog:
Well, here we have some spellcaster support
(finally)! With 1700 ATK and a LIGHT attribute
(meaning Honest works), this card is looking OK
already. The effect is interesting. When it goes to
the Grave for a spellcaster synchro (Arcanite or
Tempest Magician so far) you get to add a Field
Spell to your hand. This means if you send it and a
level 3 tuner, or it and a level 2 tuner, you get
your big boss monsters PLUS an extra Spell Counter
resource (Magical Citadel of Endymion). Seems like
it could be useful in spellcaster deck, however,
spellcaster decks aren't all that good anymore.
Maybe use it in a LIGHT beatdown hybrid, but you
aren't going to see this being used competitively,
sorry.
