General Zorpa

Wattgiraffe

This is a far better version of yesterdays card. The Giraffe is a 1200 ATK and 100 DEF LIGHT Thunder monster of the level 4. Normally, his stats are amazingly terrible, as only Honest is support for him. However, his low stats are offset by his rather amazing ability.

When he inflicts Battle Damage to your opponent, your opponent may not activate Spell, Trap or monster effects and neither Spells nor Traps. This is amazingly awesome in that on a clear Field, Gorz cannot be activated, not can Tragoedia. Also, you ropponent may have to waste precious Dimensional Prisons on this card to contain your other monsters.

He cannot be Bottomless Trap Holed, nor will your opponent want to waste removal on this card. Since he is a direct attacker (one fo the best stats of the lot) that only makes him taht more dangerous. Most people feel safe with a Goyo Guardian and 1200 lifepoints, but Giraffe turns that smirk upside down.

Again, I can only think of use of this card in a Battery deck, or maybe Lightsworn, as they can then safely attack with JD and such. It is just such an awkward way to activate an effect that I do not know where it will fit into competetive play. Maybe in combination with Wattcube and Wattwoodpecker it could actually do some pretty cool stuff.

In fact I am going to go so far to say that this is an amazingly fun card to play around with. I just got one a little while ago and very much enjoy the hole sit make sin your opponent's plans. Definitely a great card for casual, and maybe if Watt cards get better we can see what we can shape them into.

Wattgiraffe ...

One of the strongest normal summon, non-tribute, direct attackers that come to mind ... 1200 ATK ... Thunder ... and Light ...

An interesting monster here. Like yesterday's Watt card, it'd be fun to watch someone try and build a deck around this. Like yesterday's card, the Giraffe paralyzes opponents for a turn (No spell, no trap, no effect monster effects) when a certain condition occurs. In this case, its when u attack directly (his 1st effect) and inflict battle damage. While most often, yesterday's Fox would be stunning ur opponent on THEIR turn, Giraffe will do it on yours. Assuming u get the attack though, u dont have to worry about Sangans, any recruiters, flip effect monsters, or anything. Even things like Stardust shouldnt be able to resist destruction afterwards if u save a spell or trap for it. They wont be able to COTH at the end of your turn, or anything.

It's not game breaking by any means, but it is overall a fun card, i think, to play. U'd certainly have to be creative to build a useful deck for these Watt things ... U might even win a few matches while ur at it!

Greg Wattgiraffe:

Being able to attack directly is a nice effect, but having an effect that happens after you attack directly is even nicer...  essentially if you get one shot in with this guy, you know the rest of your boys are safe to attack, because your opponent will not be able to respond with anything afterward.  If all of these "Watt" monsters said "Until the end of your opponent's next turn" or something along the lines of Cold Wave, these cards would make for a viable control deck strategy.  Instead they kind of take a back seat to Herald decks, which are THE way to go if you want to play control right now.

Did yesterday's hint make you think we were going to review something decent today? Not happy? Good, you're happier than I was when I realized this was the most expensive card I pulled. Grr. Anyway, Wattgiraffe  is a good card for supporting its own deck. It has no strings attatched (except that one) and can attack directly with 1200 ATK points. Furthermore, its effect will negate all of the opponent's until the end of that turn... After the attack.

This lets your weenie rush attack unharmed, but then again, that won't do much damage, their big monsters will devour you next turn, and if they were going to blow up your weenie swarm with a trap, don't you think they already would have used Torrential Tribute or Mirror Force? Nevertheless, it is one of the best Watt cards... Albeit in a theme with not much else.

Like Wattfox, it's a nice effect, but most of the time it's not actually going to work. Konami needs to design better cards than this.

3.5/5 in its deck, -5/5 in my world. Grr.
Art: I hate the Watt cards' arts. It's not really good, sort of an eyesore...
Fun Fact: Your forgetting to use "you're", not "your".
Tomorrow: Muffins!
