Infernity Destroyer is one of the Secret Rares
toward the end of this new set, and while it may not
be the best card ever released, there was something
about it that really caught my eye. It's not a
Synchro, just a Tribute monster, a Level 6, Dark
attributed Fiend, with 2300 attack and 1000 defense.
How often do we simply review a monster that
requires a Tribute? The part that intrigued me so
much, is that when it destroys a monster by Battle
and sends it to the Graveyard, you inflict 1600
Damage to your opponent. 1600 Damage is a lot, one
fifth of your total Lifepoints.
Anyway, 2300 attack is a bit below the 2400 norm
for a Tribute monster if you're playing any monsters
that fit this category these days, and I'm guessing
many aren't. OH, and you only get the effect if you
have no cards in your Hand. So it's a good Top
Deck...

Infernity Destroyer
This is one of the new Infernity monsters that
everyone is talking about. We start this guy off
with being a level 6 DARK Fiend with 2300 ATK and
1000 DEF. The stats are not too impressive, but it
being an Infernity should help as well as DARK being
it's attribute.
The effect is that if you have no cards in hand
and it destroys an opponent's monster by battle and
sends it to the graveyard you can inflict 1600
damage to your opponent. This is kinda like a 1600
ATK boost when it would destroy something.
Anyways, a not so good effect and bad stats does
not allow this card to be apparently playable. Maybe
as a tech card, but other than that it is a pretty
SCR.

Infernity Destroyer ...
This is an interesting monster ... It's part of
the Infernity brand, and a Dark Fiend, so it's got
great genes, that's for sure. But does it make the
most of them?
2300 ATK for a tribute monster ain't all that
great, unless its got some shortcuts and/or a great
effect to go with it. The Destroyer has plenty of
shortcuts and a pretty ok effect. His shortcuts come
less from him and more from the loads of Infernity
support either get him to the hand or special summon
him with swarming ease. As the 2nd strongest
Infernity monster to date, (and the strongest non-synchro)
he may seem like a big draw, but as great as
Infernity monsters are, they aren't really played
strictly for their OWN battle muscle, and being a
tribute monster slows down the process of relieving
your hand - the Infernity key play strategy.
However, anyone who's seen or played them knows that
Infernitys can swarm like a mutha, and Destroyer
alone can lay in a big hit, without being synchro'd
into something else. Though if WANT to tune with
him, his 6 stars makes getting the Doom Dragon out
that much easier. And when the Destroyer himself
kills something in battle and sends it to the grave,
your opponent takes a HELL of a lot of damage. 1600
direct? - That can end the game real quick. Suddenly
that Treeborn Frog that keeps getting resurrected
aint lookin so hot, is it?

In the review for Intercept Wave, I mentioned
Infernities. Well, the Yugioh Championship Series or
YCS this past weekend went through a whole Infernity
fiasco, a lot of Infernity decks seemed to pop up
and if I recall there were a couple mirror matches.
Well, introducing the level 6 Infernity, Infernity
Destroyer. Its searchable with Infernity Archfiend's
effect, and makes the synchro summon of level 8
synchro monsters, including Kallen's Hundred-Eyes
Dragon. Infernity Launcher allows you to resummon 2
Infernities from your graveyard by sending Launcher
to the graveyard while you have no hand. Bringing
back Infernity Beetle and Infernity Destroyer makes
for an instant level 8. Most people would rather get
Beetle or Necromancer with Archfiend and search out
another Infernity Launcher, so getting Destroyer and
Beetle would best be saved for your last Infernity
Launcher. But on top of it being a level 6 for easy
level 8 synchro monsters, it also has a pretty heavy
effect. When you have no hand, and Infernity
Destroyer destroys a monster in battle and sending
it to the graveyard, Infernity Destroyer inflicts
1600 damage to your opponent. Thats a heavy amount
of damage if you attack a defense position monster,
and even more damage if you attack something in
attack position. Something I'd suggest running 1 or
2 of in Infernities, simply for the fact it can
easily put out Hundred-Eyes Dragon and various other
level 8's.

Infernity Destroyer is a cool card that kid at the
Sneak pulled. He traded it, but I said he didn't get
a good deal. Looks like he did, because this card
has tanked in value. Though Infernity Destroyer's
stats leave something to be desired, he has a
ridiculous damage effect-- Each time he kills an
opponent's monster (insert Infernity clause here)
they get blasted with 1600 damage! That's 20% of
their Life Points! The damage certainly racks up, as
your opponent will be down 3200 points after two
hits.
Although he racks up damage fast, he doesn't
actually make the deck more consistent. Infernity
players run hardly any monsters, and fill their
decks with cards meant to make the deck unstoppable.
Infernity Destroyer suffers from "Better cards to
run" syndrome.
2.5/5
Art: Look at that face. Eeew, it looks like your
mom...
Fun Fact: I'm on my way to the hospital right now
because Yusei stabbed me with his hair.
Tomorrow: All I can say is, what the hell is this
supposed to look like!?

Infernity Destroyer
I previewed this card on my blog. I will include my
blurb about it here:
Infernity Destroyer is a well designed card. It is a
monster that allows you to immediately SS Grepher,
freeing your hand for a normal summon of an
Infernity. An example might involve something like
holding Grepher, two S/Ts, a Destroyer, and two
random Infernity monsters. Holding the Destroyer
would allow you to pitch to SS Grepher, pitch an
Infernity (loading the gy), and then immediately
play the other Infernity for massive card advantage
on the first turn.
Having said that, it doesn’t really do anything that
a monster like Caius wouldn’t. The 1600 extra burn
is nice but Infernities have a number of ways to
punish face-down monsters (including Stygian
Sergeants, Mist Wurm, Brionac, and Flamvell
Uruquizas).
Destroyer is fringe playable (which usually points
to balanced, restrained design) but is just outside
the cusp of being included by premier Infernity
users.
