Dread Dragon ...

This must be super average card week, cuz this one falls close the same league as the others so far. Average. Remember boys & girls - "3" is an average score. Not a good one or a bad one. It means your deck wont be terribly dysfunctional if u play the card, but it wont exactly step up a level either.

And so we have Dread Dragon ... something very unusual about him ... it's his hat, i think .... yeah ... i'm not going to elaborate on that. But 1100 ATK on a 2 star monster? - Well its not built to fight, but if it attacks directly, it can give a fair enough amount of damage to make it worth it. Plus its a dragon, meaning its well supported, and being a Tuner is also a nice thing these days. So when killed by battle, u can add a level 3 or lower Dragon type monster to your hand. There are plenty to choose from. U can even add another one of these thins to your hand. Nice, right? Well the drawback is mainly that there are cards ... dragon cards at that, that already do this, and do it better. (Masked Dragon) To your hand is nice, but to the field is better. There are only so many low and medium level monster cards u will want to use for you Dragon deck. Finding the space for Dread will be tough and not terribly worth the effort.

He's not completely worthless ... u just simply have better options for what u are trying to get out of him.

Dread Dragon:

I just have to start out by saying that this dude looks friggin awesome. He destroys your lifepoints by knocking over your bong, eating all of your chips, drinking the last of the kool-aid, and sleeping on your couch... TAKE THAT! After that he might start up a drum circle or make the worlds smallest pair of hemp pants for his pet marsupial. Ok, ok, I'm done with the dreads rips. Aside from his looks, this card is actually pretty decent. Can grab you a White Stone of Legend, Totem Dragon, or something of that nature to add more consistency to the deep draw, and other dragon variants. That is if you do not use him as a Tuner first. Although it seems odd that they would make another 2 star, fire, dragon tuner, as we already have Magna Drago which has identical stats other than atk/def where it is actually better than Dread. Of course his effect is crap so I guess you can look at this guy as Magna Drago's replacement. I don't see why the search effect has to be limited to being destroyed by battle though. With X-Sabers getting at least one of every kind of searcher/floater imaginable, it seems they could have given dragons a bit of a break with this card and just worded it: "When this card is destroyed and sent to the graveyard then search..." Boom, instantly a bit better, but still balanced.
