Dark Paladin |
Friday
Swords of Revealing Light, in a way like Scapegoat,
would be incredibly annoying at more than a
Restricted status. Imagine nine straight turns
of not being able to attack? Even a Turbo Burn
would have some trouble with that I think.
Swords is useful in a pinch, but something that
hardly ever is seen outside Stall, aside even the
youngest and newest of players, despite being a
trademark of Yugi's. Swords isn't even bad,
but it doesn't give you any immediate advantage, and
it might not at all, depending on what you do, or
don't do with it.

Swords of Revealing Light... this could be a short
review. It's technically a continuous card. That is
not good at all. As you probably already know,
continuous cards suck. Your opponent will have a
thousand ways to stop this card before it can do
anything to them. It's a very sturdy and reliable
card, but not in a format where it will be destroyed
on its first turn five times out of four.
I'm giving a lot of 2/5s this week. It's Limited
week, not 2/5 week!
Art: Do they fall on the ground and create obstacles
for me or something?
Fun Fact: It's had 12 reprints. Mystical Space
Typhoon has had 21 reprints. Yeah.
Tomorrow: I will sit on an urday. I will find one to
sit on. |
Pheano |
Hey Pojo, Pheano here with another Card Of The
Day For you.
Today we will be taking a look at another old school
card that is Limited, Swords Of Revealing Light.
Swords Of Revealing Light is a Normal Magic Card
that will prevent your opponent from Attacking for
three turns. Unlike most Normal Magic cards though
Swords Of Revealing Light will sit on the field for
those three turns like a Continuous Magic card. So
in short it is like a three turn Threatening Roar
but in turn it can’t be chained like Threatening
Roar can and it can be destroyed by cards like
Mystical Space Typhoon and you will loose the effect
of it when that happens.
Swords Of Revealing Light is good for letting you
stall for three turns so you can build up your board
and your opponent can’t do as much to stop you. In
the past this didn’t see play due to Heavy Storm
since it wasn’t safe to play this, you would loose
your Swords Of Revealing Light and the other card
you would most likely have set. With that Banned and
people mass setting their back row this card is once
more safe to play. Now when you play this one of two
things will happen; 1) your opponent will wait the
three turns 2) your opponent will waist resources on
this and by doing so it will draw attention away
from your other sets that you really don’t want them
to destroy. Recently this card has been able to see
the top tables in a few decks namely Pojo’s own
alexis`on`fire was able to top a YCS with this in
his Gladiator Beast deck.
In the Traditional format this card’s use is very
limited do to the Battle Phase not being very
important and the large amount of mass removal. When
you play this in the Traditional Format your
basically just giving your opponent a free +1.
Bottom Line:
It is playable now that Heavy Storm is Banned.

Archangel
The
Legion |
Hey Pojo, this is Archangel
with The Legion Duelists bringing you the card of
the day. Today’s card is Swords of Revealing Light.
It flips all of your opponent’s monsters face up,
and while it’s on the field, your opponent’s
monsters cannot attack. At the end of their third
turn, it goes away.
First of all, it flips monsters
face up, which in most cases is a bad thing
nowadays. You will likely flip a Ryko, Snowman
eater, or any other card that activates upon
flipping. In this format, if it’s facedown, there is
a reason for it. You could use that to your
advantage and force the timing of face downs, say if
you had no monsters and flipped their Snowman eater,
but that’s about it. This card is not very handy in
today’s super-fast format. Swords would not stay on
the field very long anyway, with MST being at 2, and
destruction monsters like Ryko and Hyunlei. However,
if it is able to stay on the field, it is a great
card to help you build up your
defenses.
