Ultimate Axon Kicker
is a Fusion monster.
As such being Level 10 isn’t
especially pressing.
It does enjoy being a Light
Monster; one of the best, if not the
best supported Attribute.
Yes,
that is what I said about a Dark
monster as well: Dark and Light are
the top two Attributes and I cannot
really put one over the other.
It is a Psychic monster,
allowing it some excellent support,
and possesses a passable 2900 ATK
and slightly low 1700 DEF.
With as challenging as this
card is to get out, the ATK feels
low.
However it will be safe from
being run over by most
monsters,
and the few that are able will be
hesitant given the chance of an
Honest waiting in hand.
The DEF is low enough that
should
Ultimate Axon Kicker be shifted
to Defense Position, most beatsticks
will be able to take it down.
The first line
of text I will address are the
Fusion requirements: 1 Psychic-Type
Synchro monster and one Psychic-Type
monster.
As they were introduced at
the same time as Synchro Monsters,
Psychic monsters are quite good at
pulling off Synchro Summons.
The slightly bad news is the
lowest level Psychic Synchro Monster
is Level 5, so this will still be a
significant investment.
The good news is that one of
the Level 5 Psychic Synchro monsters
is a general requirement monster and
thus extremely easy to make.
You could theoretically run
this card outside a pure Psychic
deck by using Psychic monsters are
your primary Tuners and still
justify running a good deal of
Psychic supporting Spells that will
make it easy to pop out the needed
Fusion materials.
The next states “This can only be
Special Summoned by Fusion Summon
(from the Extra Deck).”
Ironically, instead of
clarifying things, it makes it more
confusing for me.
Taken literally, you should
be able to Special Summon it in any
manner, provided it isn’t coming
from the Fusion deck.
So
if you can discard it from your
Fusion deck you could then revive
it.
Blanket rulings mean that
isn’t how it actually works: I think
this was just meant to tell us that
we can revive it after having Fusion
summoned it initially.
Fortunately the rest of the
card is golden, and makes all the
“bad stuff” easy to forgive:
Ultimate Axon Kicker can’t be
destroyed by card effects.
So you just have to fear
destruction alternatives like being
removed from play or bounced.
It doesn’t make the card
invincible, but it makes it a lot
harder to deal with.
Now, stopping there wouldn’t be bad,
but we have another effect:
trampling.
So your opponent can’t try to
turtle out of it by setting monster
after monster in Defense Position.
As if that wasn’t enough,
when
Ultimate Axon Kicker destroys a
monster through battle, you gain LP
equal to its ATK.
So if something with a big
ATK score and low DEF is forced to
Defense Position, you score big.
Something with high DEF and
low ATK is annoying.
One or the other is still a
“win” for you.
I really can’t think of much more to
say about this card.
As long as a Psychic deck can
make room for at least one copy in
its Extra Deck and the slots
necessary for Fusion support in the
Main Deck, this is phenomenal card
that feed from and feeds on
Psychics.
Psychic support can manage
its vulnerabilities and speed it to
the field.
Once it gets there, it
maintains field dominance while
generating the LP needed to feed
more Psychic support.
I guess I’ll comment on the art and
name.
The art is good: the monster
is fierce and a bit freakish, but
not nauseatingly so.
The name required me look up
Axon: according to Dictionary.com it
is “the
appendage
of
the
neuron
that
transmits
impulses
away
from
the
cell
body.”
So I consider it a rather
clever way of describing a psychic
who is assaulting something; that is
to say if this were a physical
fighter, he’d be a “butt kicker”.

I am still selling my former
collectables on eBay.
I’ve had a lot of hobbies
over the years, so at various times
I’ll have comic books, manga, action
figures, and video games on the
auction block.
You can take a look at what’s
up for bids here.
Just a reminder, Pojo is in
no way responsible for any
transactions and was merely kind
enough to let me mention the
auctions here. ;)
