Japanese Card
Arcanite Magician, the Supreme Wizard
#STBL-JP038
Early Japanese Translation: 1 Spellcaster-Type Synchro Monster + 1 Spellcaster-Type monster
This card cannot be Special Summoned from your Extra Deck except by Fusion Summon. When this card is Fusion Summoned, place 2 Spell Counters on it. This card gains 1000 ATK for each Spell Counter on it. Once per turn, you can remove 1 Spell Counter from a card you control to activate one of these effects:
● Select and destroy 1 card on the field.
● Draw 1 card.

Monday
Continuing to look at Starstrike Blast (unreleased)
we open the week with Arcanite Magician, the Supreme
Wizard. We have a Spellcaster, Level 10 Fusion
monster with 1400 attack, and 2800 defense, who is
of the Light attribute. Fusion summoned with
one Spellcaster-type Synchro and one Spellcaster.
Arcanite Magician, the Supreme Wizard is just
screaming for a Deck to be built around him.
It's actually quite plausible, and not even all that
incredible difficult, but would need to be very
dedicated. Now, on the plus side, being a
Fusion the Level 10 is pretty irrelevant.
One would wonder why you would replace a Synchro for
a Fusion, that's a lot of investment, not to mention
this guy can only be Special Summoned from the Extra
Deck via Fusion...Anyway, this monster gains 1000
attack for each Magic Counter on it, and you gain
two automatically when you successfully Fusion
summon.
So 3400 attack is good, but we have quite powerful
Synchro monsters available with awesome effects and
while they may not be quite as powerful, are far
easier to Special Summon. You can remove one
counter to destroy one card on the Field, or to Draw
one card. I honestly feel Arcanite Magician is
better than this, even his Assault Mode was more
destructive.

Arcanite Magician
Once again, the Pojo travels TO THE FUTURE!!! in
search of cooler cards to review. Today's card is
Arcanite Magician, the Supreme Wizard/Assault Mode
LV10 - Envoy of the Middle. Miracle Synchro Fusion
takes your expired Arcanite (or something else or
something) and turns it into 2800 DEF and two more
booms, or 2 draws. It's a great card for Spellcaster
turbo decks.
Although Arcanite Magician is difficult to get to
due to its odd level (while even levels, think 4 + 2
are easy to make and even stackable, by using the lv
2 tuner twice to get to lv 8), but you can also use
Tempest Magician, having her counters get sucked
into the Citadel, then totally fusing her dead body
with her sister to make this thing.
If anything, it's an interesting way to throw in
1 or 2 Miracle Synchro Fusion cards... albeit in a
deck that's already grasping for Extra Deck air.
3/5
Art: That armor looks incredibly inconvenient. How
long does it take her to put that stuff on, anyway?
Fun Fact: The Amanda Show.
Tomorrow: "How can we not break this deck?"

Today we look at
Arcanite
Magician, Supreme Wizard.
This card isn’t quite out in English, so take
the review with a grain of salt: translation errors
are still possible.
This is a Fusion monster.
Fusion monsters have so many tricks and
shortcuts available now, but have largely been
supplanted by Synchro Monsters.
Synchro Monsters eat up valuable Extra Deck
slots making dedicating main deck slots to Fusion
materials and
Polymerization (or substitutes) even less
desirable than in the past.
It helps that the Fusion materials are
semi-generic: a Spellcaster-Type Synchro monster and
a Spellcaster-Type monster.
Too specific for just any deck, but within
reason for Spellcaster decks.
There aren’t that many Spellcaster Synchro
monsters available, but I like what I am seeing:
besides the well known
Arcanite
Magician there is also
Explosive
Magician and
Tempest
Magician.
Sadly, all are burdened by requiring the
non-Tuners for the Synchro summon be Spellcasters,
making it unlikely
Arcanite
Magician, Supreme Wizard can show up anywhere
else.
Arcanite Magician, Supreme Wizard
can only be Special Summoned from the Extra Deck by
Fusion Summon.
Mildly disappointing but at least it allows
you to Special summon it from the Graveyard and
removed from play area provided it was Fusion
Summoned it properly in the first place.
Being Level 10 would be irrelevant exception
a lower level might have allowed it to be Synchro
fuel.
As we get further into the card, you’ll see why that
would be a nice option.
It is Light (good) and of course a
Spellcaster (good considering you all but have to
run it in a Spellcaster deck anyway).
For all the work of getting it out, you get a
1400 ATK/2800 DEF monster.
Kind of small, but the effect fixes that.
When Fusion summoned, you place two Spell counters
on it.
Arcanite
Magician, Supreme Wizard boosts itself by 1000
ATK for each Spellcaster, so usually it’ll clock in
at a beefy 3400 ATK.
Once per turn you can remove a counter from
one card you control (not just this monster) and get
one of two effects: drawing a card or destroying a
card on the field.
Good effects, but they’d be better if you could use
them more than once per turn.
Perhaps they feared they would be too good:
you could get a lot of draw out of this if it
weren’t once-a-turn.
What saves this card is
Miracle
Synchro Fusion.
It follows a classic Fusion cheat seen on
similar cards for other themes, allowing you to use
monsters from the Graveyard as Fusion materials at
the cost of all Fusion materials involved being
removed from play instead of being sent to the
Graveyard.
This basically allows you to build a
Spellcaster/Synchro deck and slap in
Miracle
Synchro Fusion as a nasty insta-boss monster.
Obviously it’ll be a dead draw those first
few turns, but the described deck should bring out a
Synchro Spellcaster in a turn or two, so that by
turn three its viable (and probably beneficial).
Even without the Graveyard aspect, it can
allow you to burn through something like the
original
Arcanite Magician then trade it in for the
Supreme
Wizard version.

Summary
Go
ahead and build a deck around it: it looks like a
fun, effective card.
I don’t think it will be winning a lot of
major tournaments because the highly specialized
nature of the deck makes it prone to bad
hands/draws, lowering its overall performance and
giving a strong incentive not to run it
competitively.
If you do face it in a tournament, don’t
relax: you might get lucky, but if the player
running it isn’t unlucky then you’ll have a good
fight on your hands.
I
am still selling my former collectables on eBay.
I’ve had a lot of hobbies over the years, so at
various times I’ll have comic books, manga, action
figures, and video games on the auction block.
You can take a look at what’s up for bids
here.
I had a complicated weekend so expect a lot
to be added midweek.
Just a reminder, Pojo is in no way
responsible for any transactions and was merely kind
enough to let me mention the auctions here. ;)

Arcanite Magician-The Supreme Wizard
This is another one of those Synchro Fusion monsters
that we have been seeing. This one is like a
slightly improved version of teh original Arcanite
Magician. To start the card is a level 10
LIGHT Fusion Spellcaster with a weak 1400 ATK and
great 2800 DEF. It does need ot be Fusion Summoned
with a Spellcaster Synchro as well as another
Spellcaster monster. As always, the stats rearely
decide whether a card is good or not, and this card
is no exception. But are the effects going to make
up for this?
The effects are that it cannot be Special Summoned
except for Fusion Summon, so no Special Summon
trickes here. When it is Fusion Summoned, you do get
the 2 Arcanite Spell Counters that give it 1000 ATK
for the pair. You can also remove a spell counter in
order to destroy a card or draw a card, which adds
a lot more variability to the monster which is a
good thing. Except that you can only do so once per
turn, meaning that you cannot wipe an
opponent's board like you can with Arcanite itself.
The poor summoning condition doomed this card from
the start, but the once per turn line just killed
it. This card is inferior to the original Arcanite
in almost every way. It is harder to play and less
devastating to your opponent with only a slight stat
boost and a little more variability with the
effect to show for it.
