Kogu Level 1 – Bojack Unbound Subset – Kid Buu Saga Promo/Insert - #4 Personality – Ally

Power: Physical attack doing +5 power stages of damage. If successful, your opponent discards a card from his hand.

Kogu only proves how great Black Bojack is. His ability to discard a card from your opponent’s hand is awesome, even if it is chosen. It gives Bojack decks amazing card advantage, and with a little more discard ability in Black Body Destruction and Kogu’s Dual Strike, this guy and easily control hand size and give Bojack decks the edge.

The chosen discard does mean your opponent can take him and ditch a pointless card, but that +5 isn’t going to be +5 very long. Tack on Black TS, and a couple allies with Bojack’s card power and it can easily send your opponent to zero.

Early card advantage leads to more attacks hitting in the early game, so hence he’s a great ally to get out first. Not many decks can take a physical for +5 that they can’t let hit them for very long. That attack is generally around every single turn until he’s removed, so capitalize while he’s around.

Even in villain ally decks, his card power is nothing to laugh at. A big attack with a great secondary effect into one makes him a nice option.

Standard: 4.5 out of 5.0 (big physical and hand manipulation via discard is good) Tuff Enuff: 4.5 out of 5.0 (ditto)
Sealed: 4.9 out of 5.0 (not as many physical blocks in sealed; hands very important, and he’s an ally...) ~matthewlow
~Surllio~ Kogu Level 1
Bojack Unbound Subset

Wow, Another insane Ally for Bojack to use at his disposal. This guy has just about everything in his allies, which takes a lot of cards out of decks and leaves room for better combos and set-ups.

Kogu is a C through and through, which makes him a great Physical Soak. It also gives him a great beatdown position when your opponent is at 0. However, thats not what makes him great.

Physical Attack doing +5 Power Stages (+1 for each Unbound Ally in play, so auto +6) of Damage. If Successful, your opponent discards a card from his hand.

Hand advantage is awsome, and simply put, this guy gives you a chance to discard stuff very quickly. Tied in with Bujin, other than the fact that you now have a +7 power stage attack, you've also got card lock down. Thats just evil. No one deserves to have that coming at them, but, there are ways around it.

Kogu makes Bojack just mean, for now he has hand advantage almost every turn. Give him Black Smoothness Drill and Black Weakness Drill, and I feel sorry for your opponent every turn. This is why Bojack Black works so well, not his power stage bonus, not his compatabily with the TS Mastery, but because his allies work off the fundamentals of what black does best, Manipulation.

Rating: 4.0 of 5. Darn good ally, just evil with Bojack.
