02-17-05 - My Current Favorite Deck to Run. Hokay. Today I'll be doing an article on my current favorite deck to run, and tomorrow, my current best deck. They are both very competitive in my opinion. Wow, that was a poor written introduction. Oh well. Some days you can write, the other 355 you can't. On with the show.
One of the biggest reasons Duel Masters is so freaking awesome is because EVERYTHING is competitive. Any deck has a decent shot at winning. This is also a problem, because there are soo many competitive options. Mainly being Blue/Green, Blue/Black, and maybe all Green. (Its good) Which breaks down to rush and control. But when you try to break this game down, you see all that matters is how many attackers you have vs how many shields your opponent has. Even if you have no shields, and youre looking at 100 creatures of your opponents, you can still win. Beautiful. So, in all essence, and quite obviously so, this game is won by rushing your opponent. Obviously, the fastest win is the best. So, rush is in my opinon, the end of this game. Some day, someone will perfect it. Who knows who it will be..maybe you. Most likely me. Just kidding. ^_^ So, what totally owns rush? Why, blockers do! HEAVY BLOCKINATING MY BABIES! This is like, the child of Chris Rodgers deck. I think that was his name. Its Yellow with a dark twist. No, I don't mean I have Black in there. So whats the common Duel Masters Yellow deck? Or should I say Block deck..
Something like: 15x Random Cheap Blocker ranging from 1-4 cost. 2-4x Ladia Bale 4x Diamond Cutter 4x Marinomancer 4x Hydro Hurricane 4x Terror Pit Xx The Other Crap..whatever.
Well, it may seem that deck would own rush, but it really slow. The mana curve is like.. 4. Which sucks. Your opponent could have 4-5 creatures out before you even poop out a Marinomancer. Now, I must say this..This deck I am going to show you has mucho potential. I'm sure I'm not the first to make this kind of deck, but I'm the first to post it online, and sadly enough, credit will most likely go to me. The whole thing about this deck, is about playing it right. If you play it incorrectly, from my playtesting experience, its over for you. You HAVE to play it right.
Instead of giving the explanation, I'll just post the deck, then explain. I don't know why..:p
4x Dia Nork, Moonlight Guardian 3x La Ura Giga 3x Sarius Vizier of Suppression 2x Magris Vizier of Magnestism 2x Mist Rias Sonic Guardian 2x Ladia Bale, the Inspirational 1x Gran Gure, Space Guardian
Ok, so heres my explanation of this. First, the guys I'm running three of is because of space only. Believe me, I would happily run 4 of them if I could. The lone Gran Gure is for stuff like Dual Fang, Lancer, and even Doublegeyser. (will see alot of play) Magris was tossed in for draw, and a solid attacker.
Now for the spells.
4x Holy Awe 3x Diamond Cutter 1x Sundrop Armor
Four Holy Awe = Obvious. Tapping all your opponents monsters = own. And the single teched Sundrop Armor is for aweing, or bluffing. Its a tool, and its teched. Reason its teched is because its two cards in my hand, and it doesnt remove anything from my opponents field.
Now, theres the Blue Monsters.
4x Marinomancer
Wow, so many. Marinomancer draws most of the cards in my deck, and gains a body. I'll take that.
Blue Spells
4x Hyrdo Hurricane 3x Brain Serum
The reason I'm running so much Blue is so I can make sure I have one in the mana zone.
Finally, the thing that makes this so unique....
4x Searing Wave
I
got the idea of throwing in Searing Wave from Eric Arriola,
a player around here in Texas. He tossed some in his Blue
Green Black deck. I replaced the 4 Terror Pits with four
Searing Waves. Searing Wave is so ideal for this deck. Your
opponents number of little creatures will surely build up
since you have a wall of Blockers that own them out. So, you
will normally see a two for 3+ advantage from this.
When you gain advantage through a card, you should most
likely play it. Remember that. Well, I'm all out of
writing power right now. So, off to Half Life 2! AKA
CRACK!!! |
