06-01-06 - Deck Types Hello Hey Pojos. Sorry I haven't wrote in a while. I'm sure everyone has forgot about me or maybe you've never even heard of me. I used to actively write for Pojo and review COTD. As with most of my hobbies that involve some form of responsibility, I lost interest. But I felt the need to come back and write a sort of State of the Meta type article. haha. I amuse myself. In this article, I plan to go over some of the popular decktypes being ran, and maybe cover some other things. I feel like doing it now, but by the end of the decktypes, I probably wont. On with the show:
Decktype 1: Bombazar
I like to call this tick tock. Reason? Because it has bomb in its name..get over it. Alright. Well this is like the big name decktype right now. ONE CARD just made this. Terrible. For those of you who don't know...here's the buzz on Bomb..
7cc for 6000 power. Destroys all creatures power 6000 or less. Speed Attacker. Double Breaker. Take an extra turn after this one. At the end of that turn you lose the game.
This is nuts. If you don't see its power, then just quit playing. Thats a probable FOUR shields you brake + the other creatures you have. Played properly this card is an auto win. My current main deck is Bomb and I love it. Its actually pretty good without Bomb. I've seen a few variants of it. Gordon Kane (of the boards) runs a very fast all red green version with Gontas and Mana Crises. Andre DeFreitas of Dallas Texas runs a slower version taking advantage of more colors. I run a version similar to Magic's "Gifts Ungiven". It features every color and its particular elements. It runs one copy of Bolmeteus and one copy of Bluum Erkis. Rumblin Terahorns, and Crystal Memories for tutoring. Bronze Arm Tribes for accel. Etc etc. A decent start for my deck and I'm close to unstoppable against most decks. I've even dealt with rush pretty well. I can see Bomb being big for a while, either until something is developed that wrecks it, or it gets banned.
Decktype 2: Initiates
Robbie Stewart had his way with my Bomb deck at the last Five Civ. He was my only loss that day. (I conceded to Andre DeFreitas in the top eight so he could get his invite) I think Initiates are great against almost all decks. The Blockers mess up rush and most Bomb decks, and in my opinion, Mist Rias is a royal screw you to control. It completely messes up the advantage that control tries to gain. The only problem is Initiates have no direct kill or discard. Its either tap-kill or some jank error your opponent makes while they attack into your blocker. haha. I'm interested to see the future of this decktype.
Decktype 3: RU Retard Rush
Ok I just have to thank Aaron Pieratt and Brayden Efseroff for helping this games gradual degrade by bringing this decktype back. Alot of people will say that all red or red black is the superior rush. Clearly they are either idiots or have never seen red blue rush before. This deck is just like it sounds. Pyrofighters, Rikabus, Spiral Gates, Aqua Hulcuses, Aqua Strummers, and flaming homosexuality. All prerequisites of red blue rush. I don't need to explain this decktype. Heres a turn: Mana, tap, creature, attack, go. Its too simple. If you don't like having a fair game, then go this way!
After talking with homosexual new correspondant, Benjamin Pauling, I've come to the conclusion (and pardon me if I'm wrong) these are the three main decktypes right now. Correct me if I'm wrong. Email me here if you have a problem: Complaint Dept.
I'm a nice guy, really.
I'm getting lazy now and I'm ready to stop writing this. I will however, try my hardest to start writing reguarly again. Have fun and happy summer everyone!
