Today's review is Green Scar from Mutations and Monsters

 

Our number 1 is here…Green Scar…bet you didn’t see that one coming.

 

Also, sorry I didn’t get my review in for Wildcat, but he was my #2 and I would have given the experienced a 5/5.

 

Also, its about time we at least got to a third piece to review form M&M.

 

He is a Unique(rare), 230 points, 0 range, 10 clicks of lfie, no team

Defense – toughest one there is – he can use imperv and willpwer

Speed – smash – green scar can use leap/climb.  Give him a power action, move him his full speed, then give him a free close combat action

 

Speed:  Basically built in pounce with a 5 damage, nice.  Flurry is good because he will be in close anyway, and plasticity…well….sure why not

Attack:  Pretty solid the whole way, but I still would like it a wee bit higher for the points. Power combinations aren’t great though

Defense:  Pretty high, with a lot of reduction and some healing potential.  What is crazy is that for 8 of his clix, he is reducing damage by 2.  That is massive.  And I think you can use Willpower on your turns then imprev when getting attacked…that is nuts

Damage:  Not as high as I would like, but all that exploit really helps him get that damage in

The Good:  Special powers are amazing

     High attack

     Defense averages around a 16-17 with constant -2 reduction

     High damage

     Able to really wreak havoc

     Mobile for beginning of dial

The Bad:   Isn’t mobile enough, after click 4 he is a sitting duck

     No range

    Not the best of power reductions


Feats:   Well, fortitude means your opponent is going to have a horribly hard time taking him down. 


Overall:    Wow, this guy is tough cookie to crack.  He has high attack, nice damage, and is very mobile on some of his better clicks.  Also, since he is not a giant, he can be tk’d with no problem.  This guy is a huge investment to a team, and a piece that is very fun to use.  I think that is probably why he was ranked so high, since he is a no go for 300 point teams IMHO.  Still, you can’t deny the sheer annoyance factor of him, and the ability to destroy just about any piece in a high point tournament.  He is not my particular cup of tea, but he is a great piece overall.

 SPEED  -- Scar shows off nothing impressive for a point value of 230. Smash is effective but requires too many limitations. Object count must be six or fewer and Scar needs to stomp six squares over to claim it. However CCE is added to his power list, which helps benefit from the lackluster power. Down the dial Smash turns into what I call Smother (his Flurry). Try to trap the enemy by remaining adjacent at all costs, especially when Scar gains Plasticity. Good luck getting out of the Plasticity clicks unhurt!

 ATTACK  -- Typical Hulk: it spikes in the middle and never faints. What I don't understand is Scar needing CCE when he already has Super Strength; and when he loses hold of an object, Smash just sends him a brand new one. Maybe for those Quake clicks? But who would choose Quake over Exploit Weakness? I guess everything can be said resourceful and no doubt his attack is worth 230 points.

 DEFENSE  -- This gives plenty of support to the side reasoning Scar deserves number one spot. Eight full clicks of double-damage reducers! Anyone else agree Toughest One There Is is the best special power ever? Regneration can also shoot Scar back to his most dangerous click. Values become easier to hit over time, but who cares when Scar can use both Impervious and Willpower!

 DAMAGE  -- Nothing short of low. He always keeps a chance of knocking a few clicks off any figure with damage slipping only to 3. Even close to death, Scar can kill an opponent.

 SCULPT  -- Hulk is wearing sandals and a skirt. No wonder he looks so mad!

 FEATS?  Protected always works; Shellhead blends nicely with Willpower and high defense; Fortitude keeps opponents from Outwitting that amazing special power; Automatic Regneration is worth a try if points are left. Use anything you want! Scar is already your team.

Although I don't believe Green Scar should be Figure of the Year, he should get a rank in the Top Five. Weird to say with 230 points, he looks underrated. But he really is! The only problem I have is the 2 KO slots. If I thought about it though, would I want two pathetic clicks or one awesome click that could save his life? You can make that pick, but in any case, Green Scar will truly be leaving a scar on your opponent's team.

Here's where me and the rest of the guys completely disagree. "This-is-Sparta!!" Hulk barely makes the list, IMO, much less the top spot.

ANALYSIS:
The reason this Hulk is even worth considering is his truly beastly Special Power enabling him to move his full speed and take a close combat action. That's new for a Hulk and perfectly in character. It also grants him Leap/Climb so he won't get tied down by puny humans. That he keeps the power for 4 clicks is great, too. And yeah, his AV stays in the double-digits for most of his dial, and he never has less than Invulnerability as defense. (In fact, check out his other Special: Impervious + Willpower...on a pair of 4 DAMAGE FLURRY CLICKS. Keanu-Whoa.) And sure, his damage starts at 5 and doesn't fall to 3 until click #8.

Basically, Gladiator Hulk here is a beating machine.
So why am I a bit down on him? Because at 230 points, he's prone to getting swarmed and ankle-bit by any two of the other figs on this list with the help of a single Outwitter.

FEATS?
That's why FORTITUDE is practically required on big green, bumping his cost to 255 points. Add REPULSOR SHIELD to dampen all that Psychic Blast out there and you've got one pricey fig that, while nigh-unhurtable, may not be able to pull his great weight. Especially considering that he also defies theme team builds, making him HIGHLY vulnerable to the vicious Malice battlefield condition.

IN SUM:
Still, in the end, this is one fearsome Hulk...one that manages to outdo JUSTICE LEAGUE's Doomsday for 36 points less.
