Enough of the roof-perchers and cloud-flyers and
lightpole crawlers. Say hi to #7 top Heroclix of
2008, the cart-swingin' Thing!
Why's he make the list? Read on:
1. Clobberin' Time.
Most bricks aren't mobile enough. Thanks to this
full-move-Charge-like power, Thing doesn't have this
problem. He can get into the fight just fine with or
without a TKer. Being able to Quake is just icing --
and, apparently, very inexpensive icing at that,
because he's...
2. ...100 points cheap.
For the cost, he's awesome. He can anchor a team of
supporters or be the mother of backup fighters. He
can wear the Outwit-proofing Fortitude feat without
tipping the scales. If there's one figure in
Heroclix that definitely looks like it didn't follow
the point formula, it's him.
3. 18 DV.
And that's with Invulnerability, and not just one
top click of it, but two! Even when he slips to
Toughness, he still holds the 18 DV. Not being an
easy KO really helps his brick status.
4. 4 damage. On both ends.
'Nuff said.
5. Ever Lovin' Pal.
This token-removing power makes him potentially
useful even while he's being taxied into position.
And believe me, even though it only works on
teammates (not himself), it can truly swing games
his way when it works.
6. Not top-heavy.
Holding his DV for his first three clicks and his
best AV on clicks 2-3 means he's pushable. And his
special Toughness+Willpower in mid-life means he's
no slouch then, either.
Although he doesn't have as many reasons to be on
the list as many others, his utter lack of
weaknesses (besides a soft end-dial -- and how many
figures DON'T have that?) along with that great
support power means he keeps the perfect score I
gave him in July (http://www.pojo.com/heroclix/COTD/2008/July/7-6.shtml)
and earns him the #7 spot.
So if he's at #7, who could possibly be higher?
Well, The Thing isn't the only rock-faced fellow on
the list...
