These guys used to be amazing.  Then they printed Wild Mongrel.  Poor
archers, eaten by dogs.  Limited a 2.5, Constructed a 3.

Archers are a quality bear, but there are a lot better right now. That hurts his rating, but I still like this guy.

Elf Rating: Archerific! Sorry, I'm running dry at the end of the week.

This card was so good back in the day,  For those of us in the know, we took full advantage of this card.  However, times change and this got has gotten pushed farther and farther back in trade binders and storage boxes.  Maybe his time is still coming.

As for limited, well, he's just another body.  Just another dude to fight with.

Elvish Archers are fun.  A must for any Elf Deck, but not that good past that.  These guys had their day, but it's mostly over now.  In limited, 2 Power, 2CC, First Strike - better than average...barely.

Constructed - 2
Limited - 3.2
Current Price - $3.25

A decent card, but since Odyssey came out, it's been asking, "Who Let the Dogs Out?" For my 2 mana, I'd much rather have the Mongrel's ability, or even the Blurred Mongoose's untargetability. I'd even take the extra point of toughness and the ability to kick it bigger over this.

In limited, though, it's a decent body for the price.

I quite like these guys. A 2/1 with First Strike is good value for 1G. You
can usually rely on these guys to clear out a few opposing weenies before
they meet their maker.

In limited play, First Strike is a more useful ability to have. He's a very
solid pick, but not a gamewinner. As for constructed, he's pretty close but
you can probably find a better 1G drop. (Wild Mongrel, anyone?)

Constructed - 2.5
Limited - 4

Elvish Archers to me is a surprisingly good card, with it's only fault
being that it's rare.  It's a 2/1 for 1G, which automatically catapults
it into being a playable card, and it also first strikes, which makes it
that much better, because it takes out various 3/2's, 4/2's, and most
other bears.

Unfortunately, that "7" in a bold, golden font ruins that cards
playablility, by making it hard to get, and thus, easily forgotten to a
lot of people.  I give it a 4 in constructed, with a sleeper bonus
tacked onto that, because it is a good card, just often forgotten.

In limited, it stops a lot of things, because it first strikes.  It can
be a brutal force on the board, but will rarely show up in multiples of
more than 1 in a draft, and that makes him easy to handle.  Also, with
his good friend Tim running around, the world is never completely safe.
He's a creature that will be played in every draft deck playing green,
but that doesn't necessarily mean it's the best card.  I give it a 3 in
limited, because it's not necessarily a high pick, but it is a good
creature.

Elvish Archers would be good if only Stompy was a
viable deck and there weren't cards like Wild Mongrel
and Seton's Scout to overshadow it.  Apparently age
does make things worse.

I would still like these guys in Limited.  Too bad
they're a rare and won't show up much.

This is a really good forgotten card. It's a 2/1 first striker for 1G. Its mana efficiency is good and an early first striker is always a solid choice. I guess these days there are so many insane green cards that this guy has disappeared. He is in 7th (I even checked to be sure) so he probably deserves consideration in green T2 decks.

He is excellent in limited as so many limited decks play small creatures he can easily kill. Not a real high pick but a solid mid draft choice.

I really don't care for Elvish Archers all that much.
I do like first strike, though.  This ability matters
more in limited (I think) than in constructed, so the
rating shows that.  There are probably better green
picks if you're drafting the base sets, anyway.  And
better elves in constructed.
