On
long Magic trips the Texas Guildmages used to play
a game created by Jeff Zandi called Guildmage
Jeopardy. In the game there was an always
controversial category called "Does this card
suck ?" We used to have great arguments over
whether cards like Wall of Nets or Daluthi Jackal
sucked in limited or constructed. It was a lot of
fun. Somehow I don't think there would be much
debate about whether this card sucked or not.
Limited-
Maybe in a very focused deck ? Nah...1.0
Constructed-Could
it be worse in Constructed than in Limited ?
Yeah... .75
Old
School- Yes Dojo it does suck in all formats.

Remember
the days when we had Rancor? Well, these aren't
them. Primal Frenzy doesn't do enough as a
creature enchantment. I won't necessarily say that
is overcosted (how could it be at 1cc?), but it
just doesn't do enough. Whether it be Constructed
or Limited, there will always be better cards.

This card has more
uses in multiplayer group games I think. The
reason I say this, is that you usually will play
it on big creatures that don't come with an
evasion ability. Usually in regular
constructed tournament play, the creatures with
evasion or some other special ability are the ones
that get played.
As for limited. I try to never draft this
card. I can hardly even think of a situation
in draft or limited where this would be useful,
much less playable.

Compare this to Rancor. This card is very bad and
would have to be the 23rd card, and then I'd
probably play a land. 0.5 in both constructed and
limited. |

This
card is pretty good.... FOR ME TO POOP ON. It'll
definitely be the 28th card in your limited
deck, that's for sure.

If I could give
this zero stars I would. Creature enchantments as
a general rule are bad. Really bad. No, REALLY
bad!!
Having said that...
Primal Frenzy has got to be one of the worst of
the worst. the only way you'll actaully get
anything out of this card is if you use it along
with a permanent marker to make proxies.

Primal Frenzy is obviously
an attempt to remake Rancor. Nice try, but not
nearly the power level. The only reason I made it
higher in Limited is that it can help break those
creature standoffs in the late game. Nice kiddie
bait factor, though.

Three
words: Pile of crap. You don't know how hard it is
to resist cursing about how bad this card is. This
card has no real benefit in constructed, and it
takes up slots that most likely can be filled by
something much more potent, such as Overrun. In
constructed, it gets a 1, because someone can play
it, but keep in mind that you will be laughed at,
and that you can always fill the spot with
something better.
In limited, this is
a joke. Don't take, always pass it. Insult the
person next to you, take that foil land or that
Overeager Apprentice and pass him or her this. If
this is not a 15th pick in a draft, then there is
something seriously wrong with the people you are
drafting with. I give this a 0, since it is
undeserving of even a 1 in limited.
