Just
not good at all. Every Odyssey draft I have ever
been in has some of these going as last picks. Why
is this guy bad ? Well he is 1)Way overcosted, 2)
Has an ability that lets you pay 2B to get BBB
when you can pay 1B for BBB in the same block
(Cabal Ritual), 3) The art is bad, and 4) You
might draw this card, play it and then your
opponent would jump up and down while telling the
whole room that you are a stupid monkey which
might lead you to suicide due to the tremendous
embarrassment you have just suffered at the hands
of your peers.

The best use
for this card is putting about 30 of them together
and using them as a doormat :(
In limited, if you happen to get stuck with it,
use it as a coaster for your soda while you play
your games :(

So
what you're saying is that for three mana, I get
a creature that's NOT a gray ogre, AND I have to
sacrifice him for the Dark Ritual effect AND
discard a card? Randy Buehler, you thought you
were getting away with something this time!

This was the
card we all feared R&D would give us when they
took Dark Ritual away. It is simply an unplayable
slap-in-the-face sort of card that teased us all
after Dark Ritual left. At least now they have
given us Cabal Ritual. In short, don't play this
card, ever, any format.

The only reason I would ever
actually play this guy in Limited is if I had
something like Hypnox (which I probably wouldn't
take too soon anyway. In constructed, he's no
replacement for Dark Ritual and a 1/2 for three
mana sure isn't optimal.
