Unhinge is a card that sits on the
bubble for playability. It provides a discard
effect and a cantrip, but it just isn't quite
efficient enough at what it does. If the discard
were only at random, then this card may see some
play, but it isn't so it won't.
In Limited, it gets a little better, but I
still don't think it is strong enough to see very
much play. It IS card advantage, though, and
provides a useful ability attached to a cantrip.
That's usually a good sign of a playable card in
Limited.

OH MY GOODNESS! Praise
the lord!
***insert black church choir music here***
We have a playable card. It's been a while
since we've seen on of these here. This card
might even get a 2. Well, maybe.
It's not great in the current format by any means,
but at least it's a cantrip.
Constructed: 2 (pity rating. I just need to
give something a decent rating this week)

Anything that says Draw a
Card is playable usually. This is very playable in
a black deck as it gives you 2 for 1 card
advantage. The card they discard, plus the card
you draw, for the 1 card and 3 mana you invest. In
Limited this card is a 3 (average but decent). In
constructed I don't see it ever getting played,
and its a 1. |

NOT
a bad card, finally! This is 2 for one card
advantage, and that ain't bad. True, you don't
get to pick which card, but who cares? Compared
to the other crap this week, this a freaking
Urza's Rage.

Rating: On par with Coercion, but I've met
Stupor, and it's no Stupor.

Prior versions of this card never saw play... why
on earth are people suddenly liking Unhinge?!
Bad against Flashback? Yup!
Bad against Threshold decks? Yup!
Bad against Madness? uh, YUP!!
The current constructed environment has so many
MUCH more playable discard spells. Do
yourself a favor and play with REAL discard like
Duress and Addle! Geez, both Rats and
Mesmeric Fiend trump Unhinge, not to mention Bog
Down and the Uber-Broken Probe! I hear
Recoil kicks major bootay. Hey, and what's
this Gerrards Verdict that all the kids are
ranting about? (you getting my point?)

I really like discard in
limited since it can really change around your
opponent's plan. Add in a cantrip effect and I'm
sold, but I'm not gonna take it too early in the
draft. In constructed, you just have better
discard at your removal such as Duress.

Unhinge is a bad
card in constructed. There are better card for
one's deck, such as Gerards Verdict, Skullscorch,
Duress, and a few more. It gets a 1 in
constructed.
Limited it's still kind of
useless, but it's cantrip, and it's effect can be beneficial.
I give it a 2, because drawing cards is always
good in limited, despite how pointless the card
can be.
