This Week's Card Selector

This card is situational in limited.  If you have lots of threshold or flashback, it can be great.  Otherwise, not that useful unless you think you can bluff them into taking 6.

In constructed, I feel there will be a couple decks utilizing the card.  To make them take 6 or insta-threshhold can be a killer.  Not generally useful, but a killer in the decks it is.

Happy 4th of July everybody and since it is the 4th why don't we all take a second and be thankful we live in a country that is so great. Be proud everyday !

Today's card still has me wondering about it. The 6 damage part is good and so is the getting you to threshold but if you are playing red is threshold all that important. I'm not so sure. It seems pretty good in limited especially if it clears out a bomb or two from your opponents deck but it's not a must have card.

Smash or face or give me threshold, your choice.  I don't think it has any
place in Constructed as most punisher cards are unplayable in a format where
the card needs to do what it NEEDS to do.  Constructed a 2, Limited where it
can be rather good early game or as a finisher, 3.

This card can be used in one of 2 ways: Either give yourself threshold early, or try to mill 6 from them. Either way, the decks that typically would use this effect aren't red. So you have to figure out a way to squeak another color in your deck if you want this card.

In limited, I've seen it give people threshold quickly, but it didn't do them much good. Not to say it wouldn't do anybody any good, but it's got its place - again, in the right deck.

Oh yeah. A card that gives you instant Threshold for the low cost of 1R is a
sure-fire hit. The alternative result is just as good, with 6 to the dome as
early as turn 2.

There are some very nice Red Threshold cards that you can combo this with,
not least the behemothic Fledgling Dragon. Excellent synergy with Threshold
cards in constructed, and it supplies a few more options in limited.

This card is going to see a lot of use in both formats.  There's not a lot to say about it.  The only thing to say is look out!

Just be aware of when and when not to take six damage.

As a late game card, this card isn't great at all, but other than that, it has a lot of uses.

This is a card begging to get used in OBC. I don't even like Block
constructed and I'm thinking of ways to use this card to my advantage. In
limited, it really depends on how much your deck requires threshold and/or
has flashback. When you're playing red/green - it's likely you have/want
both - but, I always have trouble cutting a "real" spell for something like
this.

I don't think Book Burning is all that good.  Sure it gets you to
threshold, and sure it has the option of 6 damage or 6 cards.  It's only
really effective in a fast Threshold deck, a term that is sort of an
oximoron.  All the good threshold cards cost 4 or more, at least the
good ones for Type II.  I give it a 2 in constructed.

With limited, it's a yes, and no.  You get threshold quite quickly, but
at the cost of a few land most likely, and some cards that I'm sure you
cannot bring back.  It's a trade that in some cases might not be worth
it.  It gets a 2 in limited.
