This card sounds awesome to me, either in
limited or constructed. The key is that this
card is an INSTANT. It's really just that
simple. XGGG is not an easy casting cost, and
make no mistake about it, this card is STRICTLY
for decks heavily anchored in green mana. Even
with the high mana cost, the ability to play
this card at the end of your opponent's turn
gives you a great chance to turn the tables in a
game by bringing your most important creature
into play without having to draw it normally. In
many of your more serious constructed decks,
this card may be too expensive to include, but I
still think this is a great card.

This one is interesting. Spells that let you
search for creatures don't generally get a lot
of play. But this one just might. Since you can
reduce the cost by tapping creatures, it
instantly becomes more useful. And speaking of
which, this card is an instant as well. If you
are green heavy this might be OK in limited as
well to hunt down your power creature.

This is the first time we see the Convoke
ability, which appears to be a mechanic that
encourages a use for creatures on the board in
the late game. Something tells me the ability
will be on far better cards than this. It’s a
spell that is narrow and requires a high colored
mana commitment . This is fine in limited for
helping to break creature stalemates by getting
your best creature out of your deck. But in
constructed, this is to Reshape what Tinker is
to Tooth and Nail. I think Chord of Calling
could be a bit better than Reshape, but it is
obviously a “fixed” Tooth and Nail, and is
really unexciting to me.

Here a new mechanic is introduced, Convoke.
Cards with Convoke have: "Each creature you tap
while playing this spell reduces its cost by 1
or by one mana of that creature's color." Wow...
So if you have something pumping out creatures,
you can use Convoke to make a lot of things
happen for free. Wow, wow, wow. It really makes
Chord a nice card...how nice will depend on the
rest of the set, of course. A solid offering for
the new Ravnica set.

This may prove to be a very useful card indeed.
With the new Concoke
ability coming in, i can't wait to see what
kinda game play the new set is bringing in. Very
good for retrieval and is going to show magic
players that you don't really need alot of mana
to get your creatures out, you just need some
creatures out to get others.

I'm less than impressed with this card. The
newest on a long string of half-baked green
creature semi-tutors, I think that those of us
who want a way to hunt down the creature that we
need will need to wait a little while longer.
Sad as it is to say, I wouldn't even mind having
Worldly Tutor back.

Today’s cotd is from Inva, wait, NO, it’s from
RAVNICA, the soon to be newest set of Magic.
Today’s card is a newer, less broken version of
Tooth and Nail, which makes you pay the cost of
the creature to play it (plus three.) However,
it has Convoke, which allows you to tap down a
bunch of your army to play this. The fact that
it’s an instant goes together with its Convoke
ability: you can tap down all your creatures at
the end of your opponent’s turn, and cast a
monster, all before you next turn even starts.
In limited, I think this is much more powerful,
as you have the time to set up mana and lots of
creatures. It’s much more playable.
