Dimir
Machinations
2B - Sorcery - Uncommon
Look at the top three cards of target player's
library. Remove any number of those cards from
the game, then put the rest back in any order.
Transmute (1BB, Discard this card: Search your
library for a card with the same converted mana
cost as this card, reveal it, and put it into
your hand. Then shuffle your library. Play only
as a sorcery.)

I'm not thrilled about spending a card to
rearrange or remove the top three cards of my
opponent's library. The only reason you would
leave any of the three cards on top of his
library would be if some of the cards were of
little value against you (like land late in the
game). However, the Transmute ability might make
this card worthwhile, but I would have to know
what kinds of quality three casting cost cards
there are in the set. Sounds like it could be a
decent card for limited. I'm much more skeptical
about how this card would work in constructed,
but again, Transmute intrigues me a great deal.
I'm not so sure about this card. In theory this
seems kind of neat, but I'm not sure of what
type of decks need a card such as this. It's
possible that it might only fit into decks that
combo out and use spells such as Mind's Desire.
Other than that, nothing immediately comes to
mind. That's OK though. The times it gets used,
it will likely be stellar.
I'm not so impressed with the actual text of
this card. Manipulating the top three cards of
your opponent's deck can be a decent ability,
but I'm not sure that I would want to have that
be a one-time use card in my deck. However, I am
happy with the Transmute ability. The ability to
tutor for a specific card can be soooo good.
Unfortunately, unless you are working with some
sort of funky combo deck that you need
3-casting-cost spells to set up, this card
should probably be something else.
Another
new mechanic gets added to our repertoire,
Transmute. An intersting way to stack your
deck to give it a bit of search ability for
a necessary/important card.
Machinations is okay - it would have been
amazing as an instant, especially
considering Sensei's Divining Top. But as a
sorcery, and one time effect, it lacks focus
to accomplish much. Still an interesting
look at a new Ravnica mechanic for us all.

hey peoples today we have the one shot divining
top Dimir Machinations.
now just because it is a one shot card, doesn't
mean that in anyway this card is worse than the
top, in fact in some ways it is better. the
ability to get rid of up to 3 useless cards on
top of your library can do wounders for some
black decks that have no draw power. though of
course even better you can transmute it for a
card in your deck that costs 2B, yawgmoths will
anyone?
sorry for the short review but i g2g to bed
*grumbles at stupid curfew*
ratings:
constructed- 2/5 i dont think the card will
shine here much
T1 constructed- 4/5 a awesome uncounterable
tutor
limited- 3/5 meh... thins your deck
casual- 4.1/5 probably the best here cuz you
dont need to worry about number of cards in your
deck or cards that would do awful in constructed
final thought- new set looks awesome so far!

Wow
what's with the new effects? This is a great
removal card 3 for 3 mana,
that's weird, why would Magic do such a
thing? It seems to me speels are
getting really powerful. Transmute, this is
a crazy effect imagine the possibilities?
This is a great card indeed and to me could
be on the restricted list, great in all
formats.
