Hunted Lammasu

This card looks like a bomb for limited play, but after playing with it, I would have to say this card is iffy at best. Yup, a 5/5 flyer is hard to beat. However, giving your opponent a 4/4 creature resistant to some removal is A LOT worse than the 1/1 tokens that other cards in Ravnica give to the enemy. If you play Lammasu and then your 5/5 flyer is very quickly dealt with by your opponent, you will have lost a lot of card and board advantage.

All that having been said, I don't know quite how to say NO to a 5/5 flyer for four mana. Just be careful with this big bird. For constructed, I think this card has less value. Giving your opponent a big creature for free is way too risky in constructed, where the advantage of gaining a 5/5 flyer on turn four is less of a potential game breaker.

I think my White Weenie deck might play a copy or two of this card. It's really neat. You get a large flier for a very low cost. It seems to be good in multiple formats. I'd expect casual guys to turn away from this card, because casual players don't generally like anything that gives their opponent's a creature.

I'm a bit intrigued by this card. Normally, I'm firmly against creatures that give your opponent a definite benefit, but for some reason, I'm not as concerned about a 4/4 token. It may be the fact that the Horror token doesn't fly while your Lamassu does. Don't get me wrong: this card probably won't see much tournament play, but I can't really call it horrible.

For limited play, I'm a bit more impressed with Hunted Lamassu. A large creature with an evasion ability for little mana is rarely bad, and I don't think this card is an exception.

One of the better bargains of the Hunted pack, imho. Yes, your opponent gets a 4/4 ground pounder, but you have a 5/5 flyer...which equals 4 turns to a kill in most cases. As long as you have some chumps to stop the Horror, it's good times. I've played it in sealed, and was never sorry for the trade. As for constructed, that may be something else. It is within the realm of reasonable constructed casting cost, but it would have to find a niche in a deck to get played. The Hunteds were quite popular in my pre-sales.
