Debtors' Knell managed to fly under the radar
for a little while now. All of a sudden, players
are starting to catch onto how good this card
is. It fits in control decks. It works against
control decks. And it uses guildmana to play it,
so you can use it in a lot of different decks.
This card should be a relatively hot card for a
while to come.
Debtor's Knell
- When I first saw this card, I knew it was
something special. Repetitive reanimation
enchantments are nothing new. Dawn of the Dead
provided a similar effect during Odyssey block.
To go back even farther, you can find Dreams of
the Dead from Ice Age. How lame was that?
Debtor's Knell is clearly the top of this list.
It has the easiest mana requirements, despite
the highest casting cost. And it has the most
permanent effect. Plus, it's got what neither of
those other enchantments had - a really big
nasty angel to reanimate. Angel of Despair has
become the best friend of Debtor's Knell at
casual and block constructed tables across the
world. Not to mention Loxodon Hierarch. I'm
happy to see such a big crazy enchantment
getting some play.
EXPENSIVE!! But worth it, at least in limited.
If you can get this on the board, things get
real ugly, real fast. Unless your opponent can
get rid of it, it should be game over. A bit too
much mana for constructed, but if you can find a
way to pull it off in Casual, go for it. Your
friends will hate you, and eventually they will
main deck enchantment removal against you, but
you'll have some fun for a while.
