This is another card that's neat just in general
terms of it's ability. I'm not sure how excited
I am about it though. It does cost three to copy
something. And it's still a creature that's only
a 2/2. This can make it hard to protect when
setting up for the ability. There are a few
combos involving this card that you can expect
to see in Friday Night Magic tournaments. But
other than that, I wouldn't expect it to go
crazy.

Izzet Guildmage
Is this a control freak's dream? Or is it a
firebug's dream? Both? The two colors that tend
to live on opposite sides of the fence, Red and
Blue, seem to come to a truce here in the Izzet
clan. Talk about confused. They both want their
respective abilities, but can a deck be built in
which they can both find harmony together? I
know I have some players that are eyeing this
Guildmage, and a few are buying now, in
anticipation of the possibilities.
In casual, playable if you have an inkling to go
Red Blue with Instants and Sorceries. In
limited, not quite the bomb, like the other
Guildmages, simply because you probably won't
have enough spells that you really feel a deep
need to copy. IG will just sit there most of the
time, being an odd Grizzly Bear, but when you
ARE able to utilize his abilities, he could be
worth the wait.
