An awesome card in any format it graces, as your
opponent essentially can't kill it. I'd have
been just as happy to see this guy in 10th, but
you only get one vote, so...
I like the troll a lot, but something about it
has always bothered it. It's just too defensive.
Although a 3-power creature for 3 is strong on
the curve, Ascetic often becomes a purely
defensive option. And that just doesn't seem to
be what green should be about. That being said,
it's a great creature. Were it not for Eternal
Witness, this would be the best green three-drop
in Mirrodin block.
I think Troll would be the best overall of the
three choices for the 10th Edition voting
choices. It's an excellent card that would
almost certainly see play. Though Ravenous
Baloth would be my choice if they went with a
good choice of Beasts in upcoming Type 2, if
they did not, then Troll would be more playable.
In casual, it's an excellent card, and in
limited, very very solid.
