You know, it's funny how often someone says that
Sylvan Library is their favorite card. Numerous
Magic authors hold this opinion. I'm not one of
the, but I have always loved it. I have fond
memories of using Sylvan Libraries in all my
Stampeding Wildebeasts / Uktabi Efreet /
Whirling Dervish type decks. Green used to be so
much fun. As far as power goes, Sylvan is of
course incredible. Think about how people use
Sensei's Divining Top today. That's what Sylvan
used to be. I don't expect we'll ever see
something quite this powerful again, but it's
nice to see it show up in Five Color decks and
such.
Definitely one of the best card drawing
enchantments of old school Magic....and for
Green, no less. Set the top 3 cards of your
library each turn, and if you really need
another of the cards, you can pay 4 life. What a
deal!
This is a card that has gotten lost in the
shuffle over the years. It gives you the option
of taking the best card each turn. You can even
pay life and take more than one if you want.
This worked well in decks that had either life
gain effects or ways to shuffle the deck. With
the game and players being so advanced these
days, it could be dangerous to reprint a card of
this magnitude.

Sylvan Library
This card is simply amazing. The concept of a
Sensei's Divining Top spin every turn on its own
is good enough. The fact that you can pay life
to get extra cards gets even better. And it's
Green, the color with plenty of life gain and
very little card drawing. In any format that
this is legal in, if you can get a copy, play
it.
