I'm likely to give this card a much lower rating
than the other reviewers today, and I'm fine
with that. I'm just having some problems
figuring out where I'd want to play it. I
haven't put enough thought into it I suppose.
But, when it comes to lands, if it's not quickly
obvious how to use them, they usually don't see
a lot of tournament play.
Well, it's not Tolarian Academy anymore, but
it's still pretty solid. It's strictly better
than an Island, so that buys it immediate entry
into any blue deck with artifacts. I see the
embryo of an infinite loop here, but I doubt
it's in Limited, where artifacts aren't too
plentiful or useful. But I'm just grateful there
aren't any Spellbombs in Standard anymore--- oh
wait, there's Chromatic Star. Crap.
I've spent hours discussing this card and how
best to turn it into the machine of destruction
that it's non-ruined self once was. It might be
hard, but there's ways to use it. My current
thought is to combine the power of this card
with the power of another recent blue powerhouse
- Counterbalance. It's not Sensei's Divining
Top, but it might work. Keep your eyes on
Academy Ruins. It probably won't be burning up
the draft tables (though I'll be happily proved
wrong on that one) but it's just the kind of
card that finds its home in a control oriented
blue deck. And those are my favorite kind.
The new Ancestral Recall… and again, nowhere as
good as the original. The thing about Vision is
that you want to draw it in the early game so
that you’ll get your 3 cards somewhere in the
mid-to-late game. If you get it too late, you’ll
find that the effect will be just too slow for
you to take any real advantage. And with cards
like Compulsive Research, Perilous Research,
Careful Consideration, and even Whispers of the
Muse hanging around, I’m ready to say that
they’re more reliable sources of card draw in
this format.

Aethereal
Academy Ruins
Volrath's Stronghold for artifacts. I don't see
this being that big of a deal in standard, but
in extended, legacy, and vintage, this should
get played. It is abusive with many cards from
Tangle Wire to Disk, and is a strong candidate
for any blue deck that has artifacts in it. It
might even find its way into Affinity builds in
extended, although that might be pushing it a
bit.
In casual, this will be used in anything that
plays blue and artifacts. A very fun card.
In limited, there aren't enough artifacts to
take advantage of this.

Academy Ruins
Constructed - I don't see this making a huge
splash in constructed. The fact that it's
legendary hurt's it and my own personel beef is
the fact that it doesn't add blue instead of
colorless. The art shows it's at the bottom of
the freakin ocean! That's more island then a lot
of other thing's.
Casual - There might be some deck's with this.
This is card that fan's of Mirrodin will love to
add into the deck's.
Limited - I wouldn't pick this. There's not very
many artifact's in the set worth playing this
for. Again it should add a blue to bring the
flavor of The original card this was based on.
Not worth it.
