I've seen a few people trying to make good use
of this card in local tournaments, but I've seen
very little that impresses me. If you give
yourself a mana sink of some sort, it's neat,
but unless you're building up to some massive
payment effect to do lots of damage or something
it's pretty subpar. The only way to play this
card is almost to build around it.
It's combo heaven! People at kitchen tables the
world over are gonna try this out in an attempt
to break it. None of these people will make it
to a Pro Tour, but they won't care. It's a fun
card.

This is one of those cards that just screams,
"ABUSE ME!" But for now, there is just no way to
do it. I'm sure that next Standard season,
someone will use this for some sort of twisted
combo kill, and this will begin to be snatched
up out of the crap-rare bin, but until then, it
is just another useless mana accelerator in red.
This would be an automatic include in all red
decks if it added the mana during the main
phase, but since it is the upkeep, it is fairly
bad.
In casual, this is fun. You can find all sorts
of ways to abuse this in casual.
In limited, I don't EVER pick this. You are just
asking to get yourself burned to death. The only
reason to use it is to pay upkeep costs, but
even then, you have to be careful.
