Things you can do with Bogardan Firefiend:
-Kill a 4-toughness creature.
-Block and kill a 2-toughness creature, and kill
another 2-toughness creature.
-Leave it open to block, knowing your opponent
won't attack into it if they have a 2-toughness
creature they value.
-Leave it open to block, knowing your opponent
won't attack into it with a 4-toughness creature
they value.
-Attack for 2, knowing your opponent will think
twice about blocking it.
-Bring it back with Soulshift in Extended or
Casual.
Great draft card. Decent creature with a ok cost
with removal built into it. This will cause some
players to not block so that the ability will
not trigger so that 2 damage will get through or
they will block and you might get a 2 for 1.

Bogardan
Firefiend
Bogardan Firefiend's power level isn't very high
in an absolute sense, but at least it makes your
opponent think. It does trade with creatures
significantly larger than itself, and does a
reasonable amount of damage to the opponent if
not blocked. Unfortunately, there's a lot of
competition at that cost (Sulfur Elemental!).
Fortunately for the Firefiend, those same
qualities are at a premium in limited.

Firefiend
Constructed: Welcome to 10th the bad version of
FTK. Not only is it a 2/1 instead of 4/2 for
only 1 less mana, but the firefiend doesn’t deal
its damage on the way out, not really helping
you take out those blockers you want to get
past. Not really fair to compare this card to
FTK, but really, everyone else will so it’s only
fair to get the ball rolling now. Like a lot of
commons in 10th it probably isn’t going to see
that much play outside of limited.
Casual/Multi: I only like this card for the
dorky deck builder in me who is happy to see a
creature in the 3 casting cost slot of his
Bogardan theme deck for creatures. Now my deck
with the popular rares (Dragon and Hammer of)
can join forces with Phoenixes and Lancers,
Beasts and Ragers to have a blast with a fun red
deck. And sometimes that all some cards are
really good for, having fun in a casual
environment.
Limited: Limited is actually going to like the
firefiend. It can allow for 2 for one trades
with the opponent generating some card advantage
by taking out a 2 toughness creature and dealing
2 more to another creature to take it out, or
saving you a trick/removal spell by taking on a
4 toughness fatty you were having a hard time
fighting. In limited I would probably take this
pretty high if I was already in red (and by
already in red I mean having grabbed the better
red cards like incinerate and pyroclasm already
pushing me into that color.

Bogardan Firefiend is too slow for aggro and too
weak for control. It's
still not that horrible though as with enough
pressure, this could
gain you a +1 advantage.
Seal of Fire = 1 mana, so would paying an
additional 2 mana for a 2/1
be worth it? Certainly not in constructed or
even casual. It could be
worth it in limited though as this still in the
higher percentile in
card rankings.
