All this week is dedicated to artifacts that
have been confirmed to be printed in Tenth
Edition. Today's entry is Citanul Flute; not
bad, but not great. Each turn it can get you
anextra card, which means it's card advantage.
It's tutoring as well, which means it can really
be advantageous for any deck that needs to make
the game go long. Trouble is, you're paying the
creature's CMC. Either your deck is full of
low-cost creatures, which means that the game is
liekly to be over by teh time this comes online,
or your deck has a few high-cost creatures you
want to tutor for, which means you're playing
control and don't want to spend the mana on
this. Either way it's too much mana. Good in
Limited; won't make it to Constructed.
Constructed- 2

Citanul Flute
The problem I see with Citanul Flute is that
it's very slow. There could be a use for it in
some kind of combo deck, but it only gets one
creature at a time (unlike Weird Harvest). It's
pretty good in casual play with Elvish Piper. I
also think it's a little slow for limited play.
Playing seven mana to search for a 2/2 is better
in limited than in constructed, but not by that
much.

Citanul Flute:
I want to like this card, but, 5 mana and then x
to search is just too much, imo, even if it is
repeating card advantage.
Constructed:1/5
Casual: 2/5
Limited:3/5 (it IS card advantage, and card
selection)

The main reason
to search out specific creatures would be:
a) you are playing combo and you need some
creatures
b) you are playing control and you have a single
creature as a win
condition
If you chose reason a), then your combo is way
too slow. You're pretty
much doing nothing on turn 5 and nothing on turn
6. That's plenty of
time to lose.
If you chose reason b), you don't really need
this card as you'll draw
into your win condition anyway.
I don't see any reason you would want a
repeatable search effect as
a tutor that grants a single search should be
enough.
