This card is a decent little one. It's not
great. And honestly, most of it's effectiveness
will only be shown in limited play. It morphs up
cheaply, which is extremely important to me if
I'm going to consider playing a morph creature.
It also has a morph ability that's both
offensive and defensive. Having versatility like
that is always good. And in a worst case
scenario, if you have to just cast him directly
from you hand, you'll still get a 2/3 creature.
I don't like it so much for constructed play,
but in limited, it could be pretty special.
Shaper
Parasite - 9 times out of 10, this is going to
get flipped over in order to kill a 2 toughness
creature. Proabably a morph creature, in fact.
Blue is only now getting used to having creature
removal that doesn't just bounce things. That
means this card is going to get picked quite
high. And with good reason. The 2/3 body is
strong and can be made 4/1 to attack with if you
need it and there's no 2-toughness creatures
around to kill. All in all, this is a fine
example of what morph tricks are all about.
I hear a lot of good things about this card. At
3 for a 2/3, it's not too far off the curve at
all for limited. It can bring down creatures
much bigger than itself as a combat trick, even
if it doesn't live to tell the tale. I don't
know. It doesn't excite me, so I haven't really
tried it. But people who have tell me it worked
out pretty well for them.
Constructed - 1+
Casual - 2
Limited - 3+
Aethereal
Shaper Parasite
A nifty card to have. You get a 2/3 body and get
to fry a small creature for a decent cost. This
could be really good to have in constructed
against weenies, but I'm not sure it'll find a
place. Six mana is kind of steep for what you
get. Still, I'd keep an eye out.
In casual, there are better options.
In limited, this is the best blue common in the
set and maybe the best common in the set period.
A first pick if you're playing blue, and worth
splashing if you have the resources to do so.
Removal and a 2/3, what more can you ask for?
