Either it's a bunch of tokens for 3U, or a bunch
of tokens and an extra turn to abuse them for
5U. Since the number of tokens is tied directly
to the damage you were able to deal to your
opponent this turn, this card will either
absolutely wreck a player who couldn't defend
themself anyway, or a few combat tricks will
make you hold off playing it until your opponent
finds an answer. Sort of an all-or-nothing card,
but a fun one.

In practice, the effect of this card is pretty
darn close to "If you paid Notorious Throng's
prowl cost, you win the game." Consider how many
Rogues in and near the Lorwyn set have evasive
abilities; consider Oona's Blackguard, Bad Moon,
and Looter il-Kor. The cost is expensive, but
the reward is well worth it.

The un-prowled version of this card is pretty
lousy because it's very inefficient in creating
tokens. The prowled version of this card simply
costs too much. It's a very powerful effect but
if you can successfully prowl this out late in
the game, you've probably won anyway.
In casual, this card screams "play me in some
sick combo deck", although I doubt its
effectiveness.

Wednesday's
card is Notorious Throng. One of the Prowl
cards, Notorious Throng will create 1/1 black
Faerie Rogue tokens with flying equal to the
damage you cause, but the real charm of the card
is you get a Time Walk effect as well if you
play it for its Prowl cost. That allows you to
attack again with those tokens. Six mana may be
expensive, but Notorious Throng is the Rogue
deck's big finisher spell even though most
Rogues aren't exactly powerhouses. Still, the
token producing is always nice and the extra
turn even better.

Notorious Throng is the very definition of a
win-more card. Sometimes sees play as a
singleton in constructed, where it can
occasionally be devastating. In limited, it
depends heavily on your other cards. If you can
get enough damage through consistently to make
this card good, you probably don’t need this
card.
