This guy is good in Limited--
he keeps other creatures at home. Anything
with 2 or less power can't trade with him, and
even +1/+0 makes him a serious threat.
Power of Fire turns him into a wither machine.
That said, he doesn't look too great in the Red
Zone, and it always feels like a waste putting
Fists of the Demigod on it (though Runes of the
Deus looks better).

Wednesday - Rustrazor Butcher
Yet another creature that should see no play in
constructed, because it just doesn't really do a
lot. It's too slow for a red deck to consider
playing. Wither and First Strike are nice, but
red has to play faster cards than something that
gets in for 1 a turn at 2 mana.
In limited, this is really more like a 2/2 with
First Strike due to the Wither, and 2/2 First
Strikers for 2 are OK here.

Rustrazor Butcher
This is easily one of the most annoying cards in
Shadowmoor limited. I can't count the number of
times I had to backtrack on my own train of
thought regarding attacks when I realized that
one of my cheap, efficient creatures wouldn't
have enough power to kill it after first strike
damage. He even stops creatures "better" than
him, like Murderous Redcap and Safehold Elite,
from doing their thing. A high pick in any
limited format, but there's not really a place
for him in constructed now.

2 mana for a 1/2. Bad. First Strike on a 1 power
creature. Bad. Wither makes it a bit better as
it'll die only to a 3 power creature, but no
one's gonna block this for the 1 damage and
attacking with this means you'll be eating more
damage the next turn, so this is essentially a
blocker and a lot of creatures do that better
than this. It's also in a tribe that's
aggressive which just makes this worse.
Rustrazor Butcher is an interesting card. It's
definitely a superstar in limited. It has With
and First Strike. You can do some pretty sick
things if you can enchant this guy up right or
give him an attack bonus of some sort. Both
abilities are good, but together they can be
pretty potent.
This guy still lacks a bit of power to keep him
from making his way into constructed decks. In
limited though, he's a must play card.
