Sort of the opposite of Remove Soul. Given that
it counters everything except creatures for less
mana than current standard Cancel, it should see
some play, right? After all, Mana Leak is gone.
But in such a creature-heavy environment, it's
possible that this might find itself without a
target. Then again, anything that says "noncreature"
in this world is of value for its ability to
affect planeswalkers.

This is the mirror of Remove Soul, just as
efficient and just as devastating. Throwing one
of these at a Damnation, Death Cloud, or
Umezawa's Jitte can really throw a wrench in
your opponent's plans. And don't forget that
even though planeswalkers depict unique
(humanoid) characters, they're not creature
spells! Negate seems almost destined to see play
somewhere, even if only as a sideboard card -
especially if the Guile deck or Mannequin makes
a comeback.

Remove Soul sees some play, so this should too.
Most decks play non-creature spells so this is
hardly ever dead, and it's 2 mana which is rare
for a counterspell in standard, with the only
other ones I can think of righ now being Remove
Soul and Rune Snag, with the latter seeing a
decent amount of play. In other constructed
formats, this is a bit unnecessary due to the
sheer amount of betetr counterspells.
In limited, this is splashable and will either
trade for a combat trick or a removal. It
doesn't stop reinforce though.

Unless combo takes off in the near future, I
don’t expect to see a lot of this card. Rune
Snag is better for the same cost. Twenty-third
card in limited, provided you cannot find better
tricks.

Sideboard maybe...
- Casual: 1
Less effective here than it would be in a
tournament setting.
- Limited: 2
Playable if you are short on good cards.
