4 damage at instant speed is
pretty powerful, especially for RRR. This
will hit pretty hard in red decks.
In two-color decks, 2RR seems
reasonable for 4 damage, especially given that
most burn spells in the format today stop at 3
damage. It's kind of pricey at 4R when you
could have Beacon of Destruction for the same
price, but then again if you can support double
red for Beacon, you can play this at 2RR.
And then at six, this is just too expensive for
red decks to bother with. W/U control
might be willing to use it, but they've already
got Psionic Blast anyway for half the price, if
they're willing to take 2. So ideally,
you're playing it for RRR, but those other
options add to the utility.

Four damage to anything for three mana? Yes,
please. Sure, it's most often going to be three
mana only in mono-colored decks, but even for
2RR it's acceptable - Lightning Blast was
playable in its day, and things haven't really
changed that much now. This is one of the more
powerful spells they've printed for a while, so
make the most of it.

This obviously goes in Red Deck (Wins?), and
those decks have a hard time not finding the
necessary mana to play this. So it pretty much
becomes a Char without the self inflicting 2
damage. That's pretty good, for any format.
Constructed: 3.9/5, so close to a 4, but not
playable in everything

Limited: 4/5, a little harder to cast, but also
less quality removal in the format
I really like this card, especially for limited.
First of all, in Shadowmoor limited, good
removal is hard to find, and Flame Javelin deals
four damage at instant speed for just three mana.
Normally, a casting cost of RRR would make a
card virtually unplayable in all but the most
focused mono colored decks. This card, however,
can also be played with colorless mana. The new
hybrid mana concept involved in this card allows
you to play it for RRR or 2RR or 4R or 6
colorless mana, and, of course, it’s STILL an
instant. You simply cannot go wrong with this
card in sealed deck and booster draft play. In
constructed, this card should obviously have a
place in mono red decks, but I think two color
decks that have enough red in them will be able
to often play this card for 2RR, still a good
deal for four points of damage that can target a
creature or player. Just excellent any way you
look at it.

Constructed: 4 damage for either 6 or 3 mana at
instant speed is great. Red decks get a very
awesome burn spell. It will show up it a lot of
top burn decks for all formats. Multi-color
decks can still use it, just will cost a little
more. Explosion decks will love it for its mana
costs, so its cheap to cast but it's converted
mana costs alot.
Casual burn players will love this card. Every
weird red deck will have it.
Limited it's a bomb. High on the draft pick
because it can go in any deck you make. You
don't even have to splash but one mountain to
make it work a little cheaper. If it shows up in
a draft for the second time that would be
totally awesome. Sealed deck it will work with
what ever color you decide to go. Good luck it
you get it.
Over all it is a great card. One of the best
cards in this set.

This card will find a home in
any Red or Red/Green deck. It fills the same
spot that Char left behind, and it fills that
spot very well. In limited, you will always
take/play this card as soon as you see it. Four
damage for six mana is an autoplay in any
limited event.

Flame Javelin - Monday
At first glance I think this card looks better
than it truly is. If you are playing a red
heavy deck, it's pretty solid. In those
cases, it function almost like a Char, but
better. In other cases, it could be a
small gamble. It's very likely to see play
in the monored decks that have been floating
around in standard lately though.
