Fulminator Mage

Nonbasic lands are still important, and this provides an efficient way for red OR black to off them. You also get a 2/2 out of the deal for a time, though a 2/2 for 3 doesn't do much. At least you'll get a land off them when it dies.

Fulminator Mage

One of the reasons Wasteland was and remains so good is because it can't be countered and almost can't be stopped at all. Fulminator Mage is more vulnerable, yes, but it attacks for two and blows away Treetop Villages and Mutavaults. Expect to see a lot of this guy at the top tables - many red and/or black decks will want to have him around, either maindeck or sideboard.

Fulminator Mage

Constructed: A 2/2 for 3 land destruct dude. It can put a hurt on three color decks, Doran. Anti Mutavault. Slow down some of these new lands in Shadowmoor. It is a high dollar card right now. We will see how well it will do. There are alot, I mean alot, of great nonbasic lands out there.

Casual: Alot of casual players around my parts do not care for land-destruct. So not very popular.

Limited: It is a great creature for 3 mana. Shadowmoor sealed and draft the non-basics are rare or uncommon and they are not that great for limited. But I would still use him because he is a good creature and just to be safe rather than sorry.

There is alot of hype over this card. I think it is great, but not the greatest from Shadowmoor.
