Is counting mana symbols in graveyards more annoying than trying to count card types for Tarmogoyf? At least the thing Umbra Stalker cares about is directly visible when you play with your graveyard spread out "Odyssey style," and you won't get messed up because your opponent thinks his Sunlance is an instant even though he played it correctly a few turns ago. Bridge from Below has a new friend with this guy (like it needed more friends!), and it is also not bad in limited decks with a lot of black - hybrid mana symbols count too, remember?

7 mana and what you'll get is something that either gets chump blocked all day or killed by Unmake, Oblivion Ring, Crib Swap, countered and so on. You can give it fear with Profane Command but Phage the Untouchable would be a much better target, even though Phage is completely unplayable. That just shows you how bad this card is. The bottom line is that is costs way too much.

In limited, you have to be playing a lot of black for this to do anything, and it's still 7 mana which means no good.

Constructed: This is a very expensive Elemental for Standard or Block. Of course Block does not really matter that much sense the PTQ season is over.

Casual: Fun Black decks should have this card in it.

Limited: Not a very good card. Would not pick it very high because of it's high casting cost. Unless I was going heavy black, and I open it first pack. Oh yeah it can be really big with the right cards in the graveyard, but is has no evasive ability.

Overall one of the fun Rares to play with.

Well, if the last Lhurgoyf is any indication, this should have a good deal of potential.  Of course, that one cost a mere two mana to this one's seven.  And the heavy black requirement makes me think that they want you to forget that the Chroma on this card actually counts your graveyard, not in play.  Of course, you're already supposed to have a lot of black mana symbols in your deck if you're playing this, so the color requirement is no big deal.  If only it had trample or flying or something, it'd be an awesome finisher.

Casual- 3.5
