Frankly, I'd still rather just have Giant Growth
for only one mana. But trample? I have to admit,
when you're inflating your creatures up to
Giant-size, trample is huge. The bigger your
creature, the more it wants to have trample, and
making a creature bigger makes it value trample
that much more.
It's a little bit Giant Growth, a little bit
Tower Above, and sometimes just a little bit
more. You might wonder why you need this when,
if you have red, Incinerate and Magma Spray
should be at your fingertips; on the other hand,
it messes up combat math and enables some
ridiculous third turns with Silhana Ledgewalker
and Might of Old Krosa. A fun card all around.
Constructed:
This is a really good card that will not catch
on until the fall rotation. It pumps up both
attack and defense, so your creature has a
chance of staying alive.
Casual &
Multiplayer:
A new toy for the old Isochron Scepter.
Limited:
In Alara Reborn only it is okay, just remember
you have to have enough creatures to abuse this
with. I would still pick creature removal over
this card.
Overall a very good common pump spell.

Magic The Gathering COTD: Colossal Might
Welcome back today we have G/R pump card that
could possibly see some play. Colossal Might is
a giant growth variant that grants +4/+2 as well
as trample allowing virtual weenies to pose a
legitimate threat against players. A simple card
in constructed the pump and trample may be
played in G/R warrior style decks that can make
use of Bloodbraid Elf’s cascading into it to
attack with a 7/4 haste trample creature. In
casual and multiplayer pump is often played and
this provides a nice result for a minimal mana
investment and can allow your smaller legion of
creatures to take out bigger threats. In limited
the ability to pull a combat trick out of your
sleeve can help turn the tide of battle, by no
means an amazing card Colossal Might provides
another card in two colors specializing in
pumping effects that could see a small amount of
play in the future but as of now may not be up
to snub.
