Red is the color of Seething Song, so getting
the mana you need into this shouldn't be too
hard, right? And a Fireball with a built in
Forkis noting to sneeze at-- you can go "low X,
many kicks" and take out your opponent's army
like a one-sided Firespout, or go "high X,
unkicked" to take it straight into your opponent
or take down one big creature that's too big for
any of your other burn. And of course, any card
that can take down multiple creatures is worth
consideration, even if the mana is a little
much.
I'd put Comet Storm in more decks, if I didn't
think I'd have to hire a mathematician to
calculate how much damage it just did. It seems
to have been designed for multiplayer, but I'd
be very surprised if you never found one pointed
at you in any other play mode. And if you're
still not sure how to get that much mana . . .
check back tomorrow.
Welcome back readers today’s card of the day is
Comet storm an interesting red card from
Worldwake, Comet storm acts as sort of a more
expensive and more versatile Fireball. You can
take out multiple targets and insure damage
dealt. In standard this card is not seeing a
huge amount of play as Banefire is the preferred
finisher card and other forms of removal take
care of pesky creatures and Day of Judgment to
clear swarms. In extended this card won’t see
much if any play its too slow and mana intensive
to see play. In casual and multiplayer this card
can be a good sweeper and a good finisher,
combine with cards like Man Flare as well as
Heartbeat of spring and go to town. In limited
its removal but its mythic rare, so the chances
of getting it is slim to none. Overall an
interesting and flavorful card although Mythic
status hurts it overall in limited, it’s a good
fireball variant I cant complain.
Today's card of the day is Comet Storm which is
similar in some ways to the old Fireball, but at
Instant speed. For five mana you can do
two damage to two different creatures or
players, for six mana it could be two damage to
three targets, or three damage to two targets.
This is a very versatile later game burn spell,
but of very minimal use in the early game.
It isn't the best choice for a large number of
creatures or a single high toughness target, but
excels at destroying or finishing off a few
targets in the middle. The added one mana
cost compared to Fireball is more than made up
for by the Instant speed and damage not being
divided.
For Limited this is without a doubt a first pick
in Booster as both a Mythic and a versatile
potential bomb during the endgame. In a
pinch this can be used earlier to lesser effect,
but sometimes that is all you need to gain the
advantage. The two Red in the casting cost
does limit it for Sealed, but for the power any
deck that can afford the Red mana sources should
be playing it.
