Every once in a while this old chestnut gets
reprinted, to the delight of... pretty much
nobody. It's cool for destroying enchantments,
obviously, but that's all. You throw a few in
the sideboard just in case and you're grateful
for the opportunity, but that's it.
Well, except this time. This time around,
they've been printed alongside Totem Armor,
which turns the Auras it's on into some of the
best Auras-- no, some of the best enchantments--
that have seen print in years, outside of the
occasional combo piece. This time around, people
are playing Demystify maindeck, bust because
there's so many solid Auras floating around that
you can be confident that your opponent will
have one.
Demystify is good at what it does, but
unfortunately it only does one thing. Cards like
Qasali Pridemage and Ronom Unicorn are probably
better all-round than a card like this, but
since Demystify is an instant, and it only costs
one mana, there are actually a few situations
where it will be better. Keep a few around in
case you run into a Totem Armor deck.
Today's card of the day is Demystify which for
one mana can destroy a target enchantment.
This is a pretty simple card that is at best
sidedeck material unless your local metagame is
filled with enchantments. If you need
enchantment removal in Standard formats this is
cheap and fast, and
For Limited this is a pretty safe choice to
include in the maindeck when playing White as
there are quite a few enchantments and stops
Totem Armor. For Booster draft this can be
picked up later on when in your colors, but
generally best taken after creature removal or
efficient creatures.
