Deathless Angel

A 5/7 is already pretty hard to kill, especially since creatures without flying can't block it. But for WW, you can make not only the Angel herself, but ANY creature you control, indestructible for the turn. As long as you have mana up, she all but blanks all the removal in your opponents' decks. That's well worth the six mana she costs, but you may want to wait to cast her until you get eight mana, since you don't want to get caught without WW up.

Deathless Angel

Some tournament players don't like the expensive angels like Deathless Angel, but I wonder how much that has to do with their efficiency and how much it has to do with the fact that there are almost too many to choose from! Whichever of those it is, I would expect this creature to make a lot of appearances at kitchen tables and prompt a lot of dusting-off of Hallowed Burials and Oblivion Rings. You thought Seedborn Muse was devastating enough when it was killable? You ain't seen nothing yet.

Magic The Gathering Card of the day: Deathless Angel

Welcome back readers today’s card of the day is an interesting new angel, Deathless angel a 5/7 flyer for six mana, impressive in itself,it also has the ability to pay two white mana and make target creature indestructible until end of turn, in Standard Baneslayer rules the roost at least for now if its not reprinted in M11 this could become a powerful angel finisher, its expensive but making your entire team indestructible can swing games in your favor. In extended and eternal its too slow and mana intensive, the double white casting cost and ability activation hinder it as well. In casual and multiplayer, this is what it’s all about plopping this bad girl down and following it up with a Wrath of God to everyone’s creatures but yours delicious. The ability to politic around the table can’t be ignored, also great in two headed giant. In limited its heavy white and expensive but if you grab it you can dominate the board also great with Umbras. Overall a powerful angel that will see a fair amount of casual play, possibly constructed. I’m a big fan of the artwork as well.

Today's card of the day is Deathless Angel which as a six mana 5/7 Flying is not bad and the effect of paying two to make something Indestructible has quite a bit of utility as a response to destruction effects. However, if played too early and without two White mana untapped it is quite vulnerable to removal, much like Regenerate costs for Green and Black. There are other angels with a lower mana cost that make a bigger impact, so this is more geared towards fun combo styles of play and less likely to make a serious impact on the tournament scene.

In Limited this is a very powerful creature with the high defense, Flying, and utility effect. The double White is manageable by the time it can be cast in either Sealed or Booster and it is easily a first choice when drafting. The effect is best used as a deterrent against removal and keeping several Plains untapped is highly recommended in case your opponents start stockpiling destruction. It can also provide impenetrable walls against larger creatures, but in this format that won't stall out Eldrazi and their Annihilator ability for long.
