As you may recall, a while ago I was pondering
what color the "creature that makes token" thing
belongs to. Geist of Saint Traft may end up
being the basis for blue claiming part of it, if
and when it's ever decided. Until then, Saint
Traft is a powerful attacker for almost any type
of deck that uses both of his colors. And since
he's both a Spirit and a Cleric, he benefits
from a wide range of tribal synergies, from
soulshift to Battletide Alchemist. I have no
doubt he'll go down as one of Innistrad's
greatest hits.
Welcome back readers and continuing our
countdown today we have a powerful legendary
creature in tournaments and outside of them. In
standard this card has been tearing up the field
for a while now in any white/ blue deck that
needs an efficient cheap beater than can dodge
tons of removal, wear swords and other equipment
and then just beat down, this card has fit into
most blue/white decks in standard and is one of
the most powerful creatures. In extended and
modern the same concept applies this card is a
fast beatdown creature and can bring serious
beats in caw blade style blue and white decks.
In casual and multiplayer it can beat down early
but can fall off late game without support, in
commander this is a powerful aggressive general
for decks that want to equip equipment and
beatdown. In limited this card is cash money and
if you’re in the right colors it is a beatdown,
have I said beatdown yet? Anyway it is hexproof
making it a hard to deal with threat as well.
Overall one of the most powerful creatures
released in recent years.
Today's number six card of 2011 is Geist of
Saint Traft which is a thee mana Blue and White
legendary 2/2 that has Hexproof and adds a 4/4
attacking angel with Flying whenever it attacks.
This is an impressive creature for Blue/White
decks and with even a little support to make
blocking it problematic can become a finisher
for your deck. Every 4/4 it produces
either deals damage or likely costs your
opponent a card used as a response which equals
an impressive advantage over time. The
only drawback is the legendary status, but aside
from that this is a card to watch for in decks
able to run it.
For Limited the Legendary aspect isn't an issue
which gives a Blue/White deck a serious concern
and likely game-altering play, especially if
combined with an equipment to keep most blockers
from destroying it.
The two color aspect locks you in, so running it
in Sealed is either a dedicated design or
splashing one of the two colors for the second
mana symbol. For Booster it is a powerful
first choice that offers a little flexibility in
drafting both colors and of course equipments.
Welcome to the
Top 10 Countdown of Card of the Days here at
Pojo.com! This time we are looking back at Geist
of Saint Traft. Geist of Saint Traft is a mythic
rare legendary creature spirit cleric. Geist of
Saint Traft is a 2/2 with hex proof that has the
ability of whenever it attacks, put a 4/4 white
angel creature token with fling onto the
battlefield tapped and attacking. Exile the
token at the end of combat.
Geist of Saint Traft was a great card when we
first looked at it, and it sure has not
disappointed. It doesn’t really matter what
format we look at it in, it is impressive. It is
a great card for limited, being cheap and
effective, and he is good at casual, where it is
easier to break him, and he is effective in
multiplayer, since the token can attack a
different player than the Geist of Saint Traft.
Geist of Saint Traft begs to be combo’d
with. In extended or older formats of play, he
works well with the Bant colors, and abilities,
since he is the only declared attacker, all the
pumps from Exalted will trigger, and you will
gain a 4/4 that is also attacking.
Add in some great cards like Doubling
Season or Parallel Lives, and watch as a simple
4/4 becomes an army of divine justice, each one
able to attack whatever you wish since you
decide that as it enters the battlefield.
