Dryad Militant

I can't say I'm entirely comfortable with every aspect of Selesnya's worldview. I have a hard time sharing things like my books and my car with people, much less my consciousness. One thing I can't fault them for, though, is their look; I would buy an action figure or a statuette of Dryad Militant. I'd play her in my decks, too, for that matter. Burning Vengeance is capable of messing up almost any player's day, and there's only so many removal spells out there - being able to attack is a point in her favor, even compared to something like Rest in Peace. I also can't believe they managed to find a mana cost easier to fill than one of a single color.

Welcome back readers todays card of the day is a power hate Lion( like savannah lions a 2/1 creature that does more) that pretty much likes hosing Snapcaster Mage and Burning Vengance decks. In standard in aggressive white and green decks this provides a temporary solution to Snapcaster shennagins and can put a damper on Linger Soul’s and flashbacked Unburial Rites making it a nice hate card against some of the powerful things in the format. In modern this is a cheap beater that provides extra utility against some of the same things it does in standard and the opened pool provides more cards for it to hate and provides a reasonable early beater. In legacy and vintage it hoses Snapcaster, Dread Return, can help shrink before Tarmogoyfs and provides a nice early form of disruption in aggressive decks a sort of main deckable hate card. In casual and multiplayers its an aggressive one drop that has some upside, this card is only good if you know your opponents are playing flashback for sure it does provide a nice weenie for decks looking to utilize that aspect. In limited its pretty solid but unexciting not a high pick but decent. Overall a powerful card that I feel can make things rough for players in competitive formats and some possible casual use.

Today's card of the day is Dryad Militant which is a one mana Green or White 2/1 dryad soldier that exiles instants or sorcery spells if they would be put into a graveyard.  This is a great addition to nearly any deck with either or both colors provided that there is no cards present to recover or use instants or sorcery cards from the graveyard.  As effects that do that are somewhat unlikely in those colors and frequently seen in other popular decks there should be little reason not to run this card.  A 2/1 for one is a clear bargain and for White it being a soldier can fit directly into many current designs.  Overall this is a very solid card to maindeck, possibly sidedeck if absolutely necessary or as a mild surprise, and will be seen in a wide variety of competitive decks.

For Limited this is card worth an early pick after a White or Green first choice and an automatic inclusion for any Sealed guild with one of the colors.  There isn't much in the format that will make the effect come into play, but one mana creatures are valuable and a 2/1 for that price without a serious drawback is a top choice.

Welcome to a new week of card of the day reviews here at Pojo.com. We begin the week by looking at Dryad Militant from Return to Ravnica. Dryad Militant is an uncommon green/white creature human soldier. Dryad Militant costs a hybrid white/green mana and is a 2/1. Dryad Militant says that if an instant or sorcery card would be put into a graveyard from anywhere, exile it instead.
I really like the Dryad Militant. A 2/1 for one mana that can be ran in two different mono-colored decks, or a solid first turn in a multi-colored deck is a winning card for me. Then, the ability to shut down Flashback, Snapcaster Mage's, or for any other reason a spell may be able to return from the graveyard, sounds good to me.
At a 2/1 turn one, you can simply begin pumping it well on turn two. Attack, and they may let it through even if they had a blocker. Then, a pair of Giant Growth's mean it is now eight damage on turn two. You could also Rancor it twice, or do a number of different things to make this a mean attacker for you.
Simply put, a great card that should be run if you use those colors.
